Old-fashioned hotel, not new, but there is no stale feeling about it and no smell either. Posh pubplic places envirement, rooms and bathrooms are simple. Had a really good sleep (very quiet, comfortables matrasses and really soft and lux linen) and a good breakfast (grilled vegetables, they cook eggs the style I never seen before - egg is like a small pot, variety of italian pastry and fruits), serve good espresso and cappucino. The hotel gave us the feeling of old glory, not past glory. We liked the whole atmosphere, the luxury feeling, the beds, the large, old balkony, the fact that it was very clean everywhere, the friendly staff (at the front desk as well as the staff in the breakfast room and the cleaning lady), the very, very beautiful floor in the "piano-room', the delicious, delicate breakfast. We loved the covered swimming pool which allow us to have fun even in very cloudy days.
For breakfast the freshly baked croissants were great to start the day.

Stayed one night driving from Lucca, which was a beautiful drive with mountain views and rolling hills. The hotel was excellent value for money, clean, functional and 2mins walk from town centre. Breakfast was good, free parking and wifi. Hotel owners are very helpful and friendly, although they have very limited English, so be patient! Would definitely stay here again if travelling in this region.
