Dear all! We are recent married couple from Saint-Petersburg, Russia/Barcelona, Spain have been in our Honey moon in Saint-Petersburg, Barcelona, Paris and Rome. This is the second time we stayed at Small Luxury. In 2012 we found it among many others options: best quality/location/price ratio in Roma. The owners and the stuff are extremely friendly. The transfer from airports is comparatively cheap. Plentiful breakfast maintains Your touristic day till lunch/dinner time somewhere in downtown. W.
all reviews » Just as others were, we were collected from the airport by Mariachiara, at a very reasonable price and quickly installed in a very comfortable room. Location was perfect, the room clean and the breakfast staff extremely pleasant and helpful. When it was noticed that we'd brought in our own fruit for breakfast, a bowl of fruit was provided the following morning. That sort of attention is very much appreciated. After long days of walking the city, it was helpful to have so many good restaurants a. Everything! The staff was excellent, caring, helpful and attentive. They picked us at Fiumicino right on time and drove us to their hotel; the charge was reasonable, in fact cheaper than any taxi. The hotel was in a great building with a ton of character and the location! - 2blocks from the Vatican and surrounded with trendy shops, great restaurants and public transportaton - could not be beat! The advantage of the location is not only of the main attraction here in Rome which is the Vatican but the things I enjoyed the most here is the ambiance, it is like a home away from home.. Small Luxury is in a surprisingly quiet location away from some of the hustle and bustle, however its perfect for the long treks round Vatican, St Peters etc. so you can pop back for a break. Theres a taxi rank right outside with Ottraviano metro station a short walk. On the . Nice location, very close to the Vatican, we could see the St Peter's Basilica from our window. Breakfast was served in the room and it was very good and rich. Our bed was very comfortable, the room was spacious, so was the bathroom. On the 2nd day there was also a small but very warm and nice surprise for us by the owners. Great sense of hospitality overall especially by the smily lady that was working for the B&B!!. Owners were extremely helpful and accommodating, and the location was excellent, practically a stones throw from the Vatican. I've stayed at many hotels and locations in Rome and I want to tell that this is really the best value for money especially for those who like clean hotel, friendly staff and perfect location.The photos on booking com page are realistic. Excellent location n pick up service by owner from airport. It only cost us 40 euros which is cheaper than taxi. We live in the inner court room which is quiet. The only minor point is we wish the room's lighting is brighter. This hotel is ideal if you want to visit Vatican. It's clean, comfortable and with a nice view. The breakfast is better then in some other Rome hotels cause they put some cheese and prosciutto not only croissants and biscuits. The flat is located in a building on a plaza right in front of the Vatican, with a subway station nearby. The breakfast is served IN your room no later than 9.30 which is 1- very early and 2- a bit annoying since you have to get dressed. This concept is nice but incompatible with sleep in and privacy... It's not a minus, but if You expect to be in hotel with reception and 24/7 service - this is not the place for you. We had a very early flight home so a car was booked for us to airport as advertised in room €30 and this price was confirmed on booking. However driver was very rude and demanded more than agreed which caused argument at airport, not Small Luxury's fault but be careful when booking car!. The hotel wasn't staffed 24/7, more of an apartment style with a landlord. He left a phone number to call, but there was no phone in the room and our cellphones didn't work in Europe. The location did mean there was plenty of city noise but then you're in the city, its expected. A bit noisy in the night, not a big deal but it was necessary to sleep with the windows and balcony closed. The price to pay being so closed to the city center. A bit strange room service - asked for a kettle but no cups were given (room has only plastic cups for cold drinks) No room-phone to call a reception. Bad "present" wine - do not open it ). not such good sound proof. if you are an early bird, it wouldn't be a problem. but if you always get up late, consider other choice because you will find it's hard to fall asleep after others getting up with annoying noises.
