What an amazing hotel! Very friendly owner who was knowledgeable and helpful. Although the area was a little rough around the edges, it was always pretty busy and as 2 girls travelling together, always felt safe. Also, there is a huge door on the street which once you were inside made you feel extra secure, so would recommend highly to any females travelling either alone or as a group. Really comfortable beds, we had the best view of outside as we were on the corner. Excellent aircon which was .
all reviews » Although it is said that this part of Rome is not so safe, the location of the hotel was perfect. Not for one moment we felt unsafe. It's a 15 minute walk to the ancient centre of Rome and Termini station. Metro station, right under the hotel. Friendly staff, spacious and very clean room. Good typical Italian breakfast, deliverd to your room. Everything. The owner is the most wonderful person you can meet. She treats you like family. The cappuccino is to die for. The location is perfect. A minute from the metro line A. Close to Termini. Walking distance from the Colosseum & many other sights. I would love to stay a longer time there. The security is fantastic. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Room had a/c and windows that opened (no screens). Hotel has lift for bags and breakfast delivered to the room (we had to leave before normal b'fast hours, but we were accommodated without any hesitation.) Very convenient to Termini station - the reason we chose this hotel/location. Betty took great care of us during our brief stay in Roma. The highlight were the wonderful continental breakfasts she delivered to our room. Freshly baked sweet croissants and excellent coffee. The Maikol is at a great location withing easy walking distance of Roma Termini and the Colosseum. The price is great. The location can't be beaten. It's steps from a metro station and only a few blocks from the Roma Termini rail station. There are very good moderately priced restaurants nearby. As is normal, the area around the hotel (due to its proximity to the Termini train station) is not the nicest and one should be extra careful after dark. Hard to find - ensure you copy down the directions! There is a lift but you need to walk down 10 stairs from the second floor to the hotel door. Breakfast nice but a bit heavy on the sugar!. No faults bar the stairs but they can't do anything about that and its only a few steps down anyhow with bags. It is a bit of a trek from the Railway station but being in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele we had no problem finding the location (with the help of locals). It was a touch difficult to locate but it is Europe and the problem was likely our inexperience. wi-fi connection was really poor in our room. Lack of breakfast variety. Beds were a little hard. Neighborhood was slightly questionable. Small sign made finding hotel a bit of a chore. It is not really a hotel It doesn't have real reception It doesn't have a dining room Low Wifi signal The bed wasn't so comfortable. A little hard to find. Very noisy (a lot of traffic noise, despite the double glazing). Disorganised service (forgot breakfast on first morning, couldn't find booking details when checking out). Wifi didn't work in my room. Nothing. None. Rien. Neighborhood not the best, but close to everything. room a little bit dark additional ac plug would have been handy. There was no English TV. Difficult to find at first. Rooms are not sound proof at all. If someone is in the hall, you will hear them. One day only, elevator did not work.
