We were a little dubious when we first saw the doorway leading to our apartment, but then wow! A beautiful large place with 2 floors, 2 living rooms and fireplace, gorgeously decorated, and a nicely appointed kitchen and bathroom. The caretakers were punctual and helpful, and the apartment was truly a relaxing oasis when the chaos of the city got to be too much. The only downside with our young family was that Trastevere comes alive after 11pm at night, and even with the windows closed and ac o.
all reviews » We stayed in one of the apartments in Trastevere (Mameli) for four nights and we were 3 in total (my partner, my mom and I). It was clean, spacious, warm (cause winter), kitchen is well equipped and the shower was great. Very spacious. Free Wifi in the whole apartment was useful. We had a late arrival but the gentleman (sorry forgot the name) was waiting for us and very nice. Across the road was a nice Italian restaurant and after a little bit of searching we found a convenient supermarket as w. Couldn't ask for a more central location in Trastevere- right behind the S. Maria Plazza. The area is very alive and lots of younger crowd arrives to enjoy the restaurants and caffes. The apartment was comfortable and with a fully equipped kitchen, free wi-fi and air conditioner I. One room only, (we were ok with that as in the evening it got quiet chili. We loved the restaurant below the apartment as well as the coffee place around the corner- it was a truly great experience, we felt almost li. The location of the apartment was really great. The surrounding small streets were filled with many restaurants and the atmosphere of the area in the evening was fantastic. We walked to most of the main attractions and if we didn't, it was pretty simple to use public transport. The apartment itself was good and the host who greeted us was very helpful in pointing out and giving tips on seeing the main attractions/sites around Rome. Everybody was very helpful for both key pick up and drop off. Great communication via email between Italy and Aust. Apartment was perfectly placed close to many restaurants and cafes, and dispute having shopped at the fresh produce market close by we ate out at every option as the food was well priced, close, plentiful, and beautiful. The stuff was very helpfull, organized and friendly. We loved the surrounding. Trastevere is a wonderfull place to eat and go out in general. So no harm done, if you don't stay at an hotel. The next breakfast, lunch and dinner is just a step outside the door. An appartment with perfect location just in the heart of Trastevere. Cafe, restaurants and bars all around. Non problematic check in with helpful Alessia. A place itself exactly like on the pics- nice and cozy. Sugestion: If you like to party all night, rent here. Great apartment in a great location. Good for families. I liked the fotos on booking. But not more!. Only very minor things: We took the car down from Florence and the GPS couldn't pick the right street up cause it wasn't given the whole street name in the booking confirmation, which was annoying and time consuming. It took us some time to figure out where the major things are (bus stop/supermarket) but I am sure we could have asked the owner if we wouldn't have been so late at arrival. Nothing, all good. Water was tricky but got the hang of it. Can be noisy outside with nighttime revellers however the outer shutters were helpful with this. Can be quite noisy on weekend nights. But we went there prepared with ear plugs and sleeped safe and sound. ;). Nothing at all!. Because of the restaurant down stairs it is a bit smelly when you open the windows in the evening. the bathroom was smelling a bit like humidity, and if you opened the window to get air, the people who lived in the next house could see your whole bathroom because it´s connected to their garden! To find the appartment is a bit difficult, because it´s in a "vicolo" (small street) not in a "via" (street) and the taxi didn´t want to leave us at the door! Anyway, not big complaints, just it´s good to know. Being an old tower over four floors things were pretty compact on each floor, but the overall space fine. Cash required for easy check in at the apartment. The facilities: in the last day of our stay we have to leave the apartment at 11h and we can´t leave our luggage there. Cleanliness- floor wasn't very clean, but apart from that everything was perfect. Third floor apartment with no lift may limit some older or very young people with luggage. Can be quite noisy on weekend nights, but new windows reduced most of the noise. We slept well :-). It is not close to the Brand Name shopping district, and transportation is a bit difficult. Very, very noisy, and not easing until after 2am. No shutters or curtains to help with the noise and privacy. Limited kitchen equipment , noisy at the evenings because of the restaurant next door. Plumbing in apartment needed some work. (2 toilets and kitchen faucet) Quite noisy late at night, with a small restaurant right out front. Not much natural light in the rooms. There are 56 steps between the lowest and highest floors of the apartment. it might be a problem for older people. Must contact the owner/agent when you arrive and such coordination not always smooth. Payment is complicated; no card reader on the premise so I had to give my card number and am still waiting for the receipt. Nothing. Apartment was still being cleaned when we arrived and it took a further 2 hours. Not much of a problem. Everything else was very good. needed to supply sugar, tea, coffee, salt, pepper noisy streets. Sometimes hot water wasn't working, 3rd floor and no elevator, no info of what floor to ring once we arrived to the address. no shower holder in one bathroom. There was a bar right bellow us. Too much noise. Need some more larger coffee cups / tea cups One pillow is not enough for me I need two Mix up with arrival I emailed the day before With arrivaldetails etc time of arrival. But they still need a ph call from the airport , after confirmation from them of our arrival and a "see u there message " no one there ,, had to wait 25 min in the rain for some one to come and let us in .. So call them on arrival at railway or airport. Weak shower. The location of the apt. Was directly over a bar that played very obnoxious music well into the night. Additionally, there was two other bars immediately across the narrow street. It was so loud at night, that even with the windows closed, we could not sleep. If we had any idea that people would be partying all night, everynight just outside our windows, we would not ever have booked this apt. The guy who gave us the key to the flat was nice but has been bugging us about the payment to the apartment.We settled everything the day we came but the next day,he was txting and calling me a lot of time coz maybe we have paid less or more than what was intended.He then ask to meet us the next day to talk but never came.It was very annoying as we have waited and wasted half day just for that. He can have just checked from their office. I havent heared from him the rest of our stay. Shouldn´t be in the hotel category, is an apartment rental. Noise neighborhood. No security. 30eiro late check in and no response to email questions. Apartment not like the pictures. Dirty. It allways dark because there is nearly no daylight. Dirty bathroom. Head section on the bed was ful of sticky tape. Bed Sheets are dirty. And the most bad thing: The second key to every apartment was accessible for every one in the house. We are happy that we have been no victim of a break-in. To expensive for what we got. Telling that to the crew after our stay there was only ignorance.
