Very warm welcome, well organized. We have been 3 mature couples and had a problem with the tires of our rented bus. The management was extremely helpful. The rooms are clean and have good standard for Israel.Good location, as on the the lake its very noisy in the evening. Car is an advantage. Breakfast is very good and everybody will find what he likes. the overall atmosphere is great.. restaurant manager and his staff are super.. can see he enjoys his job and treats guests with warm welcome every morning... location is good-some distance from the city center.. but still at reachable distance by walking.

The whole gives good value for money when there is need for decent accommodation with regular necessities. Great free breakfast. (Green olive pizza for breakfast with your eggs? You bet!) Ziad - the front desk manager was fantastic! he was so keen to help in every question or need. he made everything so perfect! he gave us fridge, another room when we need it Ziad is a true asset of astoria. Reception was friendly and fast. Location of the hotel is good. Parking possibilities are good (there weren't so many guests in the hotel though). Dinner buffet was excellent. Facilities were tidy. While I found the person at the main desk a bit curt and the masseuse not really what I wanted - thx hotel was clean, welcoming and inviting, good was good - overall a positive experience. with the hotel well sign posted-easy to find. Too far to walk down the hill to the main part of town for me. (Glad I had a car, but a city bus comes right by the hotel anyway. The room was quite outdated (even when clean) and particularly the door lock was very unsafe, almost allowed to walk directly in. with temp. in britain at say 10deg/ 22deg in jerusalem with cold winds, found 33deg+in tiberias hard to cope with, only days apart. But not the hotel's fault. ACon worked well. nb i have MS. Lack of English speaking satellite tv channels. If on foot a bit of a hike to and from the town centre and promenade. Breakfast was fair. 20 min walk to the Sea, its ok going but coming back abit of a hill...but there are buses frequently if one gets tiered. The view of the front of the hotel is bad, but inside is very good !. Took time to learn the one-way route into hotel. Steep hill into town but Cheroot only cost 6 shekels. The hotel located on the one of the central streets and you hear all the time (include night!) a street noises. Far from the turist center of Tiberias, breakfast from 07:00 till 08:30 AM it is very early and very short. breakfast is not good. Looking at the map you can think that the hotel is near to the central bus station, at walking distance. It is not true because the difference in height is great. The next comment is general for hotels in Israel except those in arabic part of Jerusalem. I suggest that letsbookhotel.com will inform the potential guest about the Israeli habit don't supply meat dishes for breakfest. Not all tourists know of the 'kashrut' rules. The absence of warning is a real desinformation. The hotel is a little bit far from the sea promenade by foot (20min.). Although it is a non-smoking hotel, near our room there was smoking smell (probably from near rooms with not so disciplined visitors...). There were small cockroaches in our bathtub. We killed them but there were two more on the following day. And the carpets in the corridor of our floor (3rd floor) smelled like cigarrete. Swimming in Lake Galilee is not advised and often forbidden. Boulevard in Tiberias is nowadays shabby and has little to offer. People at reception desk sometimes not competent. Room is not invested Old furniture is not worth the money. Noisy street, noisy roommaids. Shower fell off the wall when I turned it on. Looks like a school dorm. It was fine, just a bit dated but acceptable. To much traffic right outside the place.
