We had stayed before so knew what to expect.We always enjoy staying at the Danby Lodge.It is always comfortable,clean and the staff are exceptional in caring for you,nothing is too much trouble.The other advantage to staying there is that the food is always good at either dinner or breakfast.As I sometimes travel alone I always feel safe there. Very friendly and helpful staff. The bar / restaurant was not much to look at, but the food was very good. There was a small play area outside with swings and climbing area, which was good for entertaining a young child. Also a big lawn / grassy area for running around at one side of the hotel.
all reviews » We have stayed here several times on the way to and from the Ferry Port. Everything about the Danby Lodge is excellent and the Staff deserve a special mention for their kindness to us. Linda is simply the best Receptionist I have ever encountered and the food is always exceptional. The lodge concept suited us perfectly as my partner is disabled. The Staff were excellent with a special mention to the girl with the short blond hair in the restaurant/bar who was the height of courtesy and efficiency and also the night manager who kept an eye on my dog for me. We have stayed at the Danby Lodge on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed. The hotel is one of few in the area that is pet friendly. It is ideally located close to the ferry port. The food is very good and staff are very friendly and helpful. We will be back!. Stayed over night after getting off Ferry,and again on the way back to Ferry. Very friendly helpful staff nothing was too much trouble. Room very clean and comfortable. Bar food and breakfast excellent. Would certainly stay there again. My 3rd visit & every time the welcome is so friendly, the accommodation comfortable & the value excellent. We have a small dog who travels with us & is allowed to sleep in the room too perfect!. only a one night stopover on the way to Rosslare port. We had two rooms which were near to each other, which was important to us.Choice of room only which was what my grandson and partner wanted. As always, Danby Lodge was friendly, clean and efficient. The staff are whats makes it a cut above the rest. The Lodges are have very comfortable beds but are getting a bit worse for wear. food, although menu was very limited, room was good. only seemed to be one girl on duty running around from the reception to the bar and kitchen -- she was excellent though. Danny Lodge is well organised for, and ideally situated for catching the early morning ferry from Rosslare. It is clean, comfortable and efficient. First place that had a Gideon Bible in the night stand in 2 weeks of travel in Scotland, Ireland and England. Reception staff overworked both the evening and morning. Why the curtains on the windows have to be the cheapest and ill-fitting when the bed and bed linen are of such a high quality? They don't meet in the middle, the sides are hanging loose and they are ripped on the rail. It wouldn't cost that much to have them on a par with the other furnishings. lack of staff, poor atsposphere in bar / resteraunt, bit like A canteen. Noise from door into corridor and room door rattles. Noise from upstairs. Missing tv control box. breakfast a little disorganised maybe a menu or layout [explanation that cereals juices are behind the door out of sight as u came in] bed was soft[partner thinks it was good ]bad for my back. The T.V. was located up in a corner of the room much too close to the ceiling. I had to lie down on the bed to watch it as otherwise I would certainly have damaged my neck. No lift that we could find. No bbc tv in room. There were no negatives. There were no items to dislike. Traffic noise from the volume of traffic when ferries arrived. Only one vegetarian choice on menu. Nothing. Didn';t like the TV on during the meal - sport. We were offered a 'wake up' call in the morning but never got it. Fortunately we woke up in time for our early boat. Our double bed was a bit uncomfortable. No bins for dog waste. Breakfast staff could be more attentive, sometimes you had to wait for a member of staff to arrive. Nothing. Nothing to dislike. The restaurant was noisy and busy (including a very noisy TV), mainly because a function was being held in the main restaurant rather than in a separate room. Showers. dark interior. Mattress not too comfortable. Nothing.
