What people say
It was a beautiful friendly comfortable and relaxing atmosphere where you were aware the family had opened their home to you in an unobtrusive friendly manner. The food was lovely and the service could not have been better, in particular the extra touches as in the fantastic flavour of the canapes that appeared beside your glass of wine in the drawing room or home made cookies with coffee. all reviews »
Old world charm. Afternoon Tea in the drawing room. Comfortable bed.
Nice country walk around property. The shower had great pressure and
when the hot water finally made it to the room (old home) from the
boiler, it was a perfect temp. The restaurant wasn't open when we
were there, however The Silver Tassie hotel is just around the corner
and served tasty reasonably priced meals.
We loved the peace and quiet and the lovely big bright sitting rooms ! The food was excellent with lovely fresh garden vegetables each day! The owners and staff were very friendly and welcoming at all times. We enjoyed the treat of afternoon tea or coffee that was offered if you came into the sitting room.
This 300 year old house for us was a small castle in a rural environment, minutes away by car from downtown Letterkenny. Exceptional decor, very spacious and sumptuous room. With the window open, we woke up to the song of birds.
Upon arrival we were made to feel welcome and any staff members we met during our stay were all very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend The Castle Grove to anyone looking for accommodation near Letterkenny.
The whole experience was wonderful and an absolute gem in our holiday in Ireland. and UK. We are very much looking forward to returning. The level of service and warm hospitality should be an example to many other places!.
Staff were very friendly, helpful and proactive. Food was fresh, organic and excellent. Thick walls and location far away from any roads next to the Lough gives total peace and quiet. 350 acres of grounds to walk around.
Food was tasty and original; excellent and considerate service enhanced the dining experience.
We were made most welcome before large fires in elegant rooms. The house was cosy throughout. This is a special place.
Superb 3 night mid-week break. Made to feel one of the family from arrival to departure. Excellent for relaxation due to quality furnishings and open log fires.
Food and service were both top-notch!.
Staff were very friendly, dinner was superb, setting was very peaceful!
I left my credit card behind and they sent a car with card to deliver it
to me some 8 km away from the hotel.
The quiet, the yellow drawing room, the wonderful family of staff, and the general ambience. Homemade biscuits were fantastic.
the very friendly atmosphere and excellent food. our visit was extremely relaxing and pleasant and would return.
I loved the atmosphere of the building, the welcome and the service, everything was first class.

Superb food, staff and location.
Delightful country house hotel.
Food, friendliness, firesides.
Everything!.
everything.
Breakfast menu is average. Not all the items on the breakfast menu were
available due to "vegetable delivery is only in the afternoon"
so no tomato for cooked bfast. Probably due to restaurant being closed.
However it may have been better if they had provided a breakfast voucher
to get our breakfast from a hotel close by instead.
Nothing - we were sorry to leave!.
The wifi reception is patchy, probably due to the thick walls.
Internet slow and non-existent in some rooms but they said the router
was giving problems and will be fixed.
Bath water could be hotter. The system failed whilst we we there, but even when it was working properly, the water was not hit enough.
nothing.
slightly pricey.
not signposted enough on way to same
should repair the entrance gateway.... can create the wrong impression.
Nothing to dislike.
Breakfast was poor. Limited choice and frugal. Should compare with Premier Inn.
Old style bathrooms.
No heating or hot water on in rooms, had to ask twice to get put on.
Dinner to a very high standard and therefor a little expensive.
carrots and parsnips every day for veg.
Nothing!.
nothing.
