What people say
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel: staff could not have been more friendly, room 7 was spacious with fantastic view over the bay (really just a bit more 30 metres from the water!) and two comfortable armchairs by the window. Good shower and comfortable bed. Food in the restaurant was excellent and reasonably priced.
The indoor pool was a bit fresh at first, but then that it according to one's personal taste and it was certainly an adequate temperature for swimming.
Hotel is very quiet at. all reviews »
Everything was wonderful with our stay....the staff was friendly and accomodating. We stayed only one night as we were walking the Dingle way and this was our stopping point. However, the location and that it has a diving school would have been wonderful if we would have chosen to stay and play.
Owners daughter suggested a boarded walk around a lough,it was excellent and promises further hidden delights that the locals know and are keen to share .
Fantastic location near beach & water sports. Food was great. The staff were friendly & very helpfull.
really enjoyed our stay here, would definitely consider returning for the scenery if nothing else.

the location is good, just right to the beach, but the staff wasnt friendly at all. the bfast is fair, and the door to reach the room was annoying, like tou have to pass 5/6 hallway-door to reach your room, i dont understand what is the point of putting lots of hallway doors in there?
but we love the dog(Lucy), the rest is just oke.
The rooms were lovely and the view was Ideal. The receptionist was also very friendly. the staff were lovely and the food was excellent.
The location was stunning and the staff/barman was very friendly and helpful.
The view.
Creaky floor in the corridor - not a big deal in a small hotel.
Noise levles in corridor at night from fire doors & creaky wooden floor.
The coffee at breakfast was luke warm, and the pancakes also, if this was not the case would definitely return as soon as possible.
The only thing for me there was no Wifi in my room, saying that there was wifi in all other public areas which was suffice.
nothing.
A little distance from town.
Rooms very cold and very draughty
Pool not child friendly or clean enough.
restaurant dinner
overpriced
very poor cooking
restaurant staff attitude.
the staff wasnt friendly.
The Breakfast isn't great- A very small fry and the second day I decided to go for the pancakes and asked for bacon with the pancakes. I got one piece of bacon on a side plate. Why not just give two slices instead of leaving a bad impression?. the bed was very uncomfy.
The bedroom had no television in it. The bedroom lockers could have done with a painting along with the doors as were all marked. The shower made a horrendous noise when turned on...and the floorboards on the corridor creaked all the time. The swimming pool was dirty and the gym equipment/changing rooms/etc was full of cobwebs.
The hotel was filthy and freezing.didnt get breakfast as it was 8.30 to 10 and we had to leave at 7.30. Total dump of a place and shouldnt be called a hotel. Never again!!.

Things to do
The Peninsula offers every conceivable type of watersports and leisure activity from scuba diving, windsurfing, kite surfing, surfing, sailing, canoeing, boogie boarding, sea safari trips, sea, river and lake fishing and shore angling, horse riding, walking, bird watching, painting, golf etc. Archaeology, History and nature walks are also catered for.
Scuba diving and angling are conducted daily from Scraggane Pier just 50 meters from the house. One hour seafari cruises around the Maharees Islands are also offered, sculptured rocks of the islands chiselled by the wild Atlantic waves, dolphins, seals, bird life and wildlife watching offers one the chance to see nature at its best.
The longest beach in Ireland known locally as the back beach is just down the road from the house and runs unbroken from Fahamore to Cloghane – all 12 miles.
The Dingle Peninsula was described by the National Geographic Traveller as “the most beautiful place on earth” and the Castlegregory area the jewel in its crown. An area known for its beautiful scenery and countless lakes - surrounded by the mountains, hills and sea and offers feature such as Glanteenassig – The valley of the waterfall - the most beautiful place on the Peninsula with its forestry, peaks and corrie cliffs that rise steeply from the lakes. Its meandering river forming hairpin bends through a long rocky valley of beautiful foliage of green and brown colours. Lough Slat, Lough Doon and Lough Caum are a haven for anglers, bird watchers etc.
Lough Gill is on the verge of the village of Castlegregory and is considered the major breeding ground of the rare Natterjack toad. On still summer nights they can be heard for miles. The lake is one of the few places where the Whooper swans and the Bewick’s mute can be seen.
The Maharees Islands a short distance from the pier at Scraggane in particular O’ Leary’s island (know locally) or officially known as Illanuntannig – Oilean tSeanaig with its pristine early Christian settlements is well worth a visit.
The famous “Connor Pass” joins Castlegregory, Stradbally, Cloghane and Brandon with Dingle to the West. A drive through these roads is an experience in itself and well worth the trip.
For those who appreciate the more lively side of life there is a wealth of local hostelries that feature live music in the evenings. On the other hand, Tralee is only 18 miles and Dingle only 12 miles from the House and they cater for the full range of nightly entertainment from theater to nightclubs.
All in all, this remote part of rural Ireland is the most beautiful place on Earth - Come and see for yourself..
Information about the area
Harbour house's has three spacious lounges for you to relax in,talk about your day's activities, or read a book. Or you could enjoy the fresh air and take in the spectacular scenery of the Maharees from our gardens.
A Peninsula off a Peninsula
Castlegregory the gateway to the Maharees Peninsula which is enveloped by the sea and up to the Trench Bridge green fields of lush grass are to either side of the road. Once across the river that flows lazily from Lough Gill, the Warren with its large expanse of rolling sand hills and lush fields of green grass are met at the Grotto by the hand built limestone walls that once were tilled and grew the best vegetables in Ireland. Today most of these fields lay idle but some of the younger generation are now organically growing herbs and vegetables and these are served in Harbour House.
Surrounded by mountains, Mount Brandon to the west, the second highest mountain in Ireland, is just a short drive and on a clear day from the summit one can see as far as the Arran Islands, the Blasket Island and the Skelligs rocks, Caherconree on the Slieve Mish Mountain range to the east with its promontory fort and Beenoskee Mountain to the south where wild deer and goats are seen frequently. All of these mountains and hills are a paradise for the walker, photographer, naturalist etc.
