This is really luxury hotel and you'll never end up talking about a waste of your spending since this hotel can give excellent experience than you ever expect. Housekeeping is excellent (twice daily, keeping the rooms well maintained and clean), customer service focused, well responsive to guests needs, takes notes of guest preferences. Our room itself was not a big but very comfortable with atmosphere of precious Javanese cultural heritage and a harmonious combination of European and Asian dec.
all reviews » This is a very nice, old and atmospheric hotel. Almost like walking in a museum, we liked it a lot. The breakfast is the best we ever had in a Indonesian hotel, with lots of Western and Asian food, including a "jamu" woman for traditional medicine. Rooms are not as modern as in a new hotel, but they are kept clean and beds are comfortable. Location it is about 1 km from railway station. Cheap Airport bus stops next door. There is a minimart nearby. Highly recommended!. Staff are ever so friendly... They smile and greet you each time you walk past them. Welcome drink Ginger tea is refreshing. The breakfast selection is fantastic, and you may even try some local Javanese herbal drink from the friendly lady which claimed to resolve some illness. The open-air courtyard is lovely to enjoy a meal with soothing Javanese music instruments played. We enjoyed the spa very much and went there for the 2nd time, just remember to book ahead. It had an amazing design with splendid Dutch architecture in the original part of the building and even the second phase, which is an extension to the original building was so beautiful. It's a peaceful place and had a calm surrounding. Room was clean, spacious, quite luxurious and had a balcony with nice pool view. Kimonos were provided for our comfort wear. Staff were very friendly and polite and always willing to help. I've been to more than 40 countries and stayed in several very good hotels. This one is definitely among the best. I stayed in the Phoenix Hotel with my wife and kids during the weekend. The hotel team spares no effort to make you comfortable. The food is great, the swimming pool fantastic and the location very convenient. I would definitely return and strongly recommend this hotel to anyone. We liked everything. I have travelled most of the World and stayed in many hotels, but this one rates for me extremely high on the list of desirable ones to stay at. Staff First Class, Ambience Wonderful. The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful (especially in the restaurant and bar). The bar staff were great fun and made the best cocktails. We were also really pleased with the pool/gym and the trips laid on by the hotel through their drivers to Prambanan and Mount Merapi Oh and we got a free upgrade!. This hotel has a unique atmosphere - it is made in colonial style with indonesian details, staff is friendly, location is good - 10 min walk to Malioboro street, convenient to go by car to Borobudur and Prambanan + 20 min to get to the airport on a taxi for only 37000 IDR (though we were driving at 5 am). Wonderful Hotel , great staff friendly and helpful without being over the top. We have stayed here before and certainly will again . With a couple of exceptions it is about as good as a hotel can be .Breakfast has great variety and the eating area is outstanding . For the money very hard to better . The welcoming with tea and cold hand towel was very special. At checkin, staff wanted us to pay for the whole stay and even demanded to go to the ATM to get more money. That left a bit unpleasant feelings. It is way cheaer if you could find your own tour packages on your own outside. Ample options outside.. The buffet finished to soon that is my only comment. The rooms were a bit dated compared to the luxury of the hotel overall. Standard rooms are tiny and the swimming pool is not big. Slightly saggy mattress and poor clothes storage i.e. insufficient drawers for clothes - had to live out of our suitcases for 9 days. The bathroom was cramped, and the shower difficult to control. One of the taps came off in my hand. Paper thin walls and windows. The view from pool is great. Bad part screaming kids! Pool area is smoking only! Disgusting! The room on the opposite side of pool had a family with infant. Baby cried for hours. I could hear is so clearly even with my patio door closed. Very very thin insulation. Spa services and food are very expensive. Hot water in the shower is not hot. Airconditioning takes a long time to cool the room. City facing rooms can get a little noisy in the morning. Menu at restaurant could be longer. In-house laundry is very expensive. nothing. I had booked 4 rooms for my family and relatives and requested for pool view. We were given 3 rooms with pool view and the other room was facing the city.The view was not pleasant. The charges for the room with the city view were the same as the pool view. Sometimes bit noisy. Nothing. Nothing to dislike at this well managed establishment. Some rooms have not luxury view from balcony :0)) Continental breakfast very simple. Hotel pub only has a live band on weekends. No Complaint. Nothing. Everything was spectacular. In principle everything is fine except the shower room could be differently designed. The mixed up with the limousine service from airport to hotel....strange that my flight information given and confirmed on email was all wrong on the day of arrival. It was pretty stressing to walked out the terminal and not find anyone waiting for you, and having to ring the hotel to find out if anyone is coming to pick u up. Nothing - it was all perfect. We had an issue with bathroom cleanness but resolved by friendly reaction from the reception staff. small room + small bathroom small swimmingpool difficult to order a glass of wine.
