Very warm, welcoming and friendly family home stay, also offering an opportunity to learn about Balinese culture and religion from the very helpful Ketut and his son Nyoman. The garden setting is beautiful, as are the Balinese styled rooms, each with an outdoor sitting area for breakfast. We also enjoyed the larger outdoor lounge area where we could sit and talk with other guests, and Ketut and his family and friends and relations. We were lucky to be there for a blessing of their home in the f.
all reviews » Really enjoyed getting to know the family and felt part of their lives for the week we were there - especially nyoman the son who took us on a full day out and explained so much about customs and way of life. He was part of the young peoples group who performed at the Lotus cafe temple area and invited us to watch him play in the gamalan group. We met and spoke with his 2 sisters who help out in reception.Thoroughly enjoyable stay in a small family complex. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfa. I had the best time at Ketut's place.He and his son in particular are extremely friendly and helpful.The staff are all very friendly and competent .the rooms & rest of facilities very neat & tidy. I was quite sick at the beginning and they looked after me , drove me to the hospital& organised doctors to come to my accommodation.The support was a big relief since I traveled alone.I'd definitely recommend this family feel place to anyone and hopefully I make it back there myself again. The location of Ketut's place is quiet, and close to the centre of Ubud. The place has a fantastic Balinese architecture with very nice rooms and a beautiful garden and pool. Great welcome and service by both Ketut's family and the personnel, where Ketut is available to give all informations or organise excursions. The grounds were beautiful, and it was a close walking distance to downtown. Ketut and his family are wonderful people. They cared about my well being and made every effort to ensure that my stay was comfortable and that I felt welcomed. If I were to go back to Ubud again, I would stay here in a heartbeat. If you like to experience Balinese culture, Katut and his family welcome you to a truly Balinese experience. Katut and his son are also very helpful in organising day trips, rafting, hiking, cooking lessons, etc. I had a really good time here and would stay again! Special thanks to Nyoman for the great tour to temples, rice fields and the coffee Plantage. Just about everything. Take on of the deluxe rooms on the river if you can, very relaxing and private. Staff were amazing and Ketut has a very nice way about him. Should be nominated for father of the year award too. We stayed for 3 nights and we felt like we didn't stay long enough. Will probably stay for a week next time. Brilliant Ubud Experience. Deluxe room is absolutely spacious with spare bed for family. We stayed at room 14 does come with 2 massive balcony facing river stream. We lite up the balcony with lots of tea light candles enjoying wine in the evening. Ketut's Place is a homestay, not a hotel. Personal touch and attention by the owner's family. The family compound was a truly Balinese experience - I felt like a guest in a palace. My Deluxe room was very romantic and private. The pool was small but perfect for the number of guests and blended into the delightful Balinese setting. Ketut was welcoming and his staff friendly. A genuine family personal experience. Great authentic Balinese House hold + pool, Spa and amazing rooms and complex. It's not as far from the center of Ubud as it looks on the map! Maybe a 4-5 min walk easy as. Though in Ubud having a scooter is much easier to get a round anyway. Loved the Balinese style homestay. Enjoyed the typically beautiful architecture and handicrafts abound throughout the entire compound. Learned a lot about the culture through Ketut and his family, and were invited to attend their local temple's ceremonial dance. The caring and enthusiasm of Ketut and his family was amazing. The fascinating integration of tourist accommodation into the traditional family compound and the opportunity to experience the traditional White Monkey Kecak dance which Ketut participated in. We loved the welcoming family atmosphere. It was very quiet and relaxing. We absolutely lived our deluxe room, especially the balcony overlooking the forest and river, which you could hear...very soothing. The meals were traditional and delicious !. I loved the pool- it was the highlight of staying there. Also the owners have a young puppy- it was so fun to see. Otherwise very nice place and worth the money. We had to leave because they were booked- and miss it very much. Also great Aircon!. Beautiful grounds and swimming pool, breakfast served daily to your room if you wanted it. Peaceful and the staff were really friendly and helpful; they recommended a great Bike trip (Eco-tours) and a local dance (that Ketut performed in!). It's such a nice place to stay, a green oasis in a busy city. Staff is very nice and helpful and they are very good in organising all kind of trips to make your stay in Ubud very worthwhile and extremely enjoyable. Beautiful location filled with orchids, family temples and statues. Behind the hotel there is a beautiful rushing river and jungle. The free breakfast was good. A very peaceful sanctuary away from the mayhem and business of the main Ubud township. Ketut and his family are very warm and welcoming, very laid back and a home from home feel. Our room was huge, with a large balcony, overlooked a river and jungle, so relaxing . Traditional architecture and temples, unique atmosphere, breakfast included, Ketut performed in a traditional fire dance the night we stayed. An experience not to be missed!. Lovely homestay, 10 minutes walk from Ubud vilage center. Staff is very friendly, especially the owner's son Nyoman, who was our guide on several tours. I liked everything about this place. It is family owned and everyone was so friendly - Ketut and his son knew me by first name, and were always friendly and helpful. the temple setting is amazing. All downside things are easily overlooked in exchange for the positives this place has!. Value for money!. Located close to the center. Location. The only inconvenience was not having a fridge. Bathrooms are due for renovation, and Ketut is already starting that process. No kettle+tea+coffee maker. No drinking water and glass. Luckily we come with picnic basket. No fridge. Bought some cheese and have to finish them at once. lol. Would like to have had a small fridge in the room. Food was average for the area. Internet was a bit slow and you can only get it in the lobby area. It would be great if it could reach the pool area. Wifi only in the reception area (not in room). Almost got charged for a motorbike when I did not rent one. I think this was just a records error. They kindly took it off of my bill. It wasn't clear that you had to turn your padlock and key into the front desk in order to get your room cleaned. I loved it all. The dogs barking at us . There is a steep hill, it didn't bother us but if you have problems walking this is not the place for you. N/A. in standard room bathroom was bit outdated. If you are going fuss over every little tiny detail that the family may have missed ? go stay in a resort , i loved it. Breakfast- tasty but not so much to eat. No fridge or kettle in rooms. Motel up a steep hill, broken paths made walking around a bit of a challenge. Spring beds are a bit old. Need replacement. Room die not met expectations, it was clean but old and worn out, especially the bathroom. It was also different than the rooms that are presented on the online pictures. Dogs are not very friendly. The bathroom is dated and needed a good clean. The towels had some strange stains. Our mosquitonet had a huge whole and the extra bed had no mosqiutonet at all. The breakfast was a bit small. The offer of breakfast for our non paying kids in the end was a paid option. We wish we had known we would be charged a whole breakfast for only having a piece of toast and a fried egg for them. The same with the offered white rice with our soup. It was in the end charged separated from the soup. Think it would have been good if breakfast could have been two options, so you could have for example omelette AND fruit salad...not just one or the other. The standard room on the 3rd floor where we were (room 11, if my recollection is correct), was too small and the bathroom was not attached, which was quite inconvenient. Definitely would ask for a deluxe room if we stay there again. Saw one which looked very nice. They were improving some rooms and, during the day, it was noisy. But it didn't afect us because we were out. The bathroom could have been A little better. Located near the river (high humidity in the room and mosquitoes). The deluxe room was advertised as:"This spacious room features a private terrace or balcony overlooking the pool and waterfall." It also was supposed to have a safety deposit box. Neither was true. Upon arrival the owner said only the standard rooms overlooked the pool. Our room was deep down below the pool and it also was damp. The breakfast was very poor. Room: 'Wet' atmosphere and stuffy.
