Good location not far from the Pink City. Room was big and let onto the large terrace with outside gazebo overlooking the town and reasonably clean. Haven of peace indeed in the middle of a busy town. Pool was nice if a tad cold, we were there in November, air temperature in the 80s so not a problem. all reviews » It's an amazing place, obtained from an ancient noble palace. There is a lot of space, the rooms are spacious and very enjoyable, the whole place (including its very large outdoor part with the swimming-pool and the restaurant) is so quiet and relaxing that it seems sealed off the noisy Jaipur despite it's on a road of important internal movement for the city. The staff is very nice and effective. This is a fabulous tranquil hotel in a beautiful old building secreted away behind a busy street in a wonderful location close to the heart of the city. The food was excellent and the sunrise from the roof top gazebo was enchanting. Ask for room 201 on the first floor overlooking the pool fabulous. The Alsisar Haveli was an oasis of peace and tranquillity amongst the mayhem of Jaipur city and traffic. It is a wonderful old building, extremely well renovated and decorated in traditional style. The two men playing music every time you appeared in the courtyard after a couple of days they became friends otherwise they were a bit like those selling the big issue back here. An irritating reminder that everyone still needs their tip even when you are trying to relax. There was nothing I disliked. Reception service was not up to mark. We arrived the hotel at 5.30am after an overnighter by train, but the main door to the hotel compound was closed and locked. Had to call the hotel number which fortunately, I had with me. Generally, the reception staff lacked the warmth and friendliness which are expected of the staff of a good hotel for which you're paying a premium. Check-in wasn't warm and welcoming. Front rooms had a noise problem the night we stayed from the puppet show (which ran much too late) and from a group who had a meeting area close to our rooms. Also staff were calling out to each other in the early morning unnecessarily to the detriment of guest sleep. Our bathroom pipes 'sang' all night long. Nothing. The pool did not look that clean. Some people (musicians especially) made you feel you are still on the streets, asking you for money. This is not something that would help people chill out. The bathroom is obviously an improvised one so a bit uncomfortable to use. The room AC does not work and could not be rectified in our two days of stay. The swimming pool needs more attention for cleanliness.Some ethnic dish was expected in the menu. nothing. Staff are very polite and solicitous but some times a little too solicitous for a guest trying to just rest from the general pushiness of Jaipur's life! Door was broken and we were told it will be fixed in the morning which left us with a not so secured door opening to outside. Wifi was not working (as it happen always in hotel and restaurant in India) but still annoying when you expect free wifi. Food was pretty average (buffet in the evenings rather than a la carte). The hotel could do with a lick of paint and could be so much nicer with a women's touch. Reception staff didn't speak great English but were friendly. thought that it was over priced for what it was and that it needed up dating, was a bit shabby and in serious need of some attention. Staff were very non plus and not very friendly.
