The hotel is pretty new and clean, it is in the center of Keflavik and you can find a parking very easily. I stayed there before taking off from KEF airport (that is 5 minutes driving from the hotel) and they served me breakfast at 5:30 am. I booked a room with shared bathroom the night before, but when I arrived the lady at the reception gave me a room with a private one for the same price.
all reviews » Very comfortable hotel, with WIFI and convenient if you have to pick a flight from Kevlavik airport. Mind you it is located 7KM away, so you need extra transport to get there. But this hotel offers shuttle bus service (not free). Rooms tidy and very large. Hard to imagine how the lady owner could have been more helpful, would strongly recommend this hotel! Value for money, great view out to bay, easy walk to local restaurants, easy drive to blue lagoon and airport,. Location (within 10 minutes of Keflavik airport). Room was large, spacious, airy with a large comfortable bed. Modern with wifi and satellite TV. A view of the water and the distant lights of Reykjavik were stunning. If the northern lights had appeared it would have been perfect. Good quiality/price. Near airport. friendly staff. We prepared breakfast at 6 in the morning before going to the airport. Arrived at 7:00 a.m. all night flight. They were gracious to let us store our luggage for the day till check-in. People were welcoming and friendly. We arrived late at night and woman waited for us! Also, great breakfast. Big room, looked recently renovated. The room had a balcony (would have been very nice in the summer). excellent breakfast provided attractive rooms very helpful staff free Grapevine newspaper. Great location. There is a supermarket nearby with very long opening hours. *Clean room and comfortable bed *motion detectors for light in the bathroom (not wasting energy). Nothing. Noise (more cars than we saw whilst driving the entire Route 1, drove past the hotel during the night we stayed) - suggest requesting a room to the rear (sea side). No lift so we had to carry bags up/down stairs (three flights). It was odd that they had to go through several large books before they found a copy of our reservation; then I needed to sign a M/C receipt for which I had already prepaid. no elevator. Wind was blowing more or less through the balcony door, bathroom was not perfectly clean, some hair and dust on the floor, took a long time before some warm water was available in the shower (was I the only guest? Felt so.) No airport shuttle service included, taxi costed 3000kr to airport. They would need a better sign outside, had some problem to find the hotel, from outside it looked closed. I do not like that Iceland Air calls the Keflavik Airport (kef) the Reyjavik Airport. Kaflavik is a beautiful quiet town very near the airport and deserves the recognition. The hotel looks very unfriendly from the outside (our first impression was that it was closed and abandoned), but inside it is very new and clean facility with a nice modern design. It was our first night in Iceland, then we realized that in this country one has to take a look inside before making any judgement. Restaurant not open when I stayed but other restaurants nearby. No transport to the airport as described in details. We paid for two taxi rides and this cost more than the accomodation. It is close to the airport but not cheap to reach. We didn't get the booked twin room which would probably had the nice view to the ocean. During the night was a lot of noisy traffic. There wasn't an airport shuttle service. *Window not closing properly = noisy & there was a draft *reception staff very cold *hotel website not available in english *only bathroom amenities were a tiny bag of shampoo. *No bath mat available *no lift (lots of stairs) *No advertised mini bar in the room. The hotel is too old. No lift landing. Filthy. Next to a bar.
