One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. Beautiful, safe and central location but what really made it was the fantastic, friendly and informative staff. I was given excellent and informed advice on anything I asked from literature recommendations to caving to the opera. Everyone I encountered during my stay was professional, helpful and made me feel most welcome. It was an absolute delight staying with Maverick. Thank you very much.
all reviews » The staff were all extremely friendly and were happy to answer any questions we had onthings to do or how to get places. They even had a shot night in the hostel where we could try some homemade palinka! The location was very good, being a few blocks away from most of the main tourist areas and very close to the river. The staffs were extremely nice. It's good for teenagers who come with friends and who is ok to share bathroom and kitchen with others. There's a free international phone call, so you can call your family that was very nice :))). The location is the best for shopping and travel. It's very close to the Metro. Staff was helpful, explained everything. Coffee and tea in the kitchen, fully equipped kitchen was a plus. Supermarket just around the corner. Room was clean, not noisy. Good reach from the main station (2-3 subway stations, or 20 minutes by walk). Right in the city center, everything was close. The staff was extremely friendly, offering expert advice on city tours, places to eat, what to see, and where to go for a good night out. The hostel was clean, and had a lovely homely feel. The construction that covers a vast area of Budapest is literally happening right where you step out of the hostel. This became somewhat annoying as you had to go around it each time. However, there didn't appear to be any noise, which was the main thing we were worried about. The entrance was extremely difficult to see. I have lost about half and hour because I can't find where the hotel is. And I go to travel by only 2 girls, so I won't feel very comfortable to have too many men at the living room. Shared bathroom means not everybody is cleaning after himself/ herself (especially the toilet). The is no aircon and therefore our night was really miserable (on Saturday and Sunday the outside temperature was 37 C° and above). There was a fan in the room, but that was definitely not enough :( The storage room for the luggage was opened anytime we passed around - even though we asked the receptionist if it will be closed (we had a laptop in our backpack). Nothing, everything was excellently organised. There is some construction around the area which can be noisy if you sleep in late. Wasn't much of a problem for us as they stop the work during the night and early morning. The room was very small, but big enough for our needs. The shower didn't drain very well and it took a long time to drain. One of the guests, a colleague of mine, found a pair of dirty knickers in his bed + on his arrival, the toilet had not been flushed. For another guest, always a colleague of mine,the room was too noisy. A simple curtain is not enough, try double-gazed window panes, please! (what do you do in winter time?). Mattress is abit thin n I lost one side of my leg warmer when I send my clothes for their laundry services . It doesnt look as good as shown in the website. The room is very small. The building is so old and not well maintained.
