A chance to get away from the bustle of Hong Kong and see the countryside and a small fishing village. There are trecks and sites to see if one wants. We just relaxed.
Nice location in a reconverted police station at the end of the harbour. Spacious room with comfy beds and crispy lining + Nespresso machine.

very quiet location after all the day tourists were good. The sunset at the waterfront was spectacular.
Quietness of Tai O during weekdays.
Liked fit out of room but was quite tired already. Sofa cushions stained and dirty. Ambience of restaurant great, food average. Staff did not tell us we could not get a boat to village after 5pm.

A warning that if you arrive at Tai O village after 6pm it is a 20mn walk along smooth pavement to the hotel. There are no signs to the hotel but there are signs to 'Old Police Station'. From 10-6 there is a boat service from the village to the hotel. Not really a problem but needs to be advertised.
The restaurant was relatively poor, breakfast fair.
The male staff were friendly and helpful, but not the female staff with Chinese accent. One at the restaurant and one at the reception. They have no basic courtesy to their customers at all. The management should either fire them or train them again before posting them in such an high-end hotel!.
