We enjoyed Chania and the hotel very much. We live in Crete (East) but have not been to Chania before and we found the old port to be very beautiful. We loved the design of the hotel and the position for walking out and about the town. Especially we appreciated the help and attitude of the young girl receptionist who booked us in who was most helpful and courteous as were all the staff. We were staying overnight before flying from Chania airport for the 1st time and we did not realise the tow.
all reviews » Located a block from the harbor and right in the heart of Old Town Chania, Palazzo Duca is perfect! It is a fancy place--beautiful, clean, and polished. Every staff member is exceptionally friendly and helpful. Our hotel room was a palace! Very comfortable king size bed, sitting area with table and chairs, patio with view of harbor with table and chairs, a kitchenette in the room stocked with dishes, utensils, cooking pans plus refrigerator. The bathroom was lovely with a heavenly large shower. A marvelous small design hotel just half a minute walking from the Old Port. I had a wonderful elegant room with very comfortable cocomat bed and pillows, a small balcony with a view to the Port, very clean and quiet, nice and clean fresh towels. Everyone at the reception was very friendly, polite and provided me with any necessary information. Although it is a small hotel I appreciated the presence of the elevator. The lack of breakfast - a breakfast room is under constuction- was negligible s. Almost most of it! I really liked the look of the room which was very different from the others we stayed in Greece. It's decked out in very soothing colours and we got upgraded to a bigger room which was more than a decent size, with plenty of room to walk around. Location is a plus too, it's housed in a shophouse like exterior, in between winding streets of restaurants and shops. Plenty of food options, some shopping and near the bus station to boot! The receptionists were also super helpful. Location was excellent in the midst of old town and near the harbor. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were able to choose our room out of few different ones with the same price. The owner very graciously let us have a very late check out without any extra cost. There was no balcony in our room but there was a very nice rooftop terrace overlooking the sea we could use. There was no breakfast available at the hotel but several restaurants just outside the front door. Room was very spac. we loved the location right in the old town and no problem at all if you have a car as Taros Square carpark if free and only a two minute walk to hotel. The restoration of this old town house into a boutuque hotel is truly beautiful with relaxing colours and detail. I loved the little veranda and the sounds of the quite street outside. Chania port is a minutes walk and the evening life of pleasant family atmosphere; we had a wonderful meal in Monasteri Taverna as recommended by hotel staff and . If I could rate this hotel above excellent I would! The staff were beyond amazing. I arrived early and they let me store my luggage, provided me with a map of the area and iny luggage was waiting for me in my room when I checked in. The rooms have character. Not like a chain hotel. They have beautiful touches. Breakfast was on offer for a small cost downstairs but I had a kitchenette so I didn't require this service. Do yourself a favor and stay here if you are in this area. Recently created by renovation of old merchants house. Very tastefully executed, clean, functional but full of character. Very comfortable bed. Very helpfull owner and staff. Convenient central location, next to excellent taverna, no problem with noise due to highly effective sound. proofing. Location is one block from sea, we had junior suite with side sea view from balcony - a joy for breakfasts and the occasional lunch. Owner George is justifiably proud of his creation. My stay at Palazzo Duca did exceed my expectations and I wish the owner of this place much success for the future. The location was fantastic and I loved sitting out on the balcony in the sunshine watching the wold go by. The room was large and comfy with top notch bedding and finishings in the room. George, who ran the place was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant across the road, Tamam, was great also and well worth a visit. Just a perfect hotel. We couldn't recommend it more highly. This hotel is everything I could ask for and more. Coffee machine in room but no coffee. But this was supplied on request. Not being aware we were unable to drive to the door with our luggage or being made aware of this from the Boking.com website description which 'parking close by' is somewhat ambiguous. The parking is not that 'close by' as described but to be fair the hotel position compensated for this and it would not have been a problem if we had been aware. Not a thing. It was perfect!. Well, not a criticism of the hotel or letsbookhotel.com but just a learning since it was my first time using letsbookhotel.com. When I wanted to book an extra night via letsbookhotel.com a day later, found out that all rooms were booked so I had to book a night at another hotel. I should have emailed Palazzo Duca direct as I found out after my stay that it wasn't a clear representation of all the availability of their rooms. Now I know!. nothing at all, loved the lift!. Nothing at all. I loved this hotel and wish I could have stayed longer. Nothing. I guess I am meant to write: "no breakfast" here, but for me this was not an issue, making my own flat soy vanilla lattes that I enjoyed watching sea on the balcony. Leaving. Everything was perfect. The fact we had to leave after three nights. No complaints at all. All in all, everything was perfect; if pressed to find fault with something, I would say that the kitchenette utensils could be a little bit cleaner. Hotel does not provide breakfast. Yet, for us it was not a problem at all. There are plenty of nice cafes around the hotel, with great food and atmosphere. None. There is nothing to complain about, very good hotel, we will recomend it to all our friends. Nothing. It could be difficult to park in the areas near the hotel in the busy summer months. Nope. Bathroom was very nice, just the shower was a bit dark with no light. We could not fault it in any way. Impossible to fault - this is an awesome place!. Nothing. Nothing - everything was splendid. There was nothing we didnt like. The suite is too much dark,no natural light. The water in the bathroom was ok for the shower but too cold to have a bath,so we tried but we couldn't have one.
