  The owners were very friendly and tried their best to understand our limited French but we managed with the help of Google and Nellie our hostess jumping down from the table to find out the correct word. Quite a laugh! Lovely pool - A beautiful country house, tastefully decorated in landscaped gardens. The rooms were large and the beds very comfo... what people say » rtable. The owner even met us in the nearby village and led us back as it was a little hard to find!

  We loved this hotel. I think a lot of the previous reviews pretty much summed it up ... the rooms are in dire need of refurbishment, facilities are basic and beds rather uncomfortable. But maybe that is the price of a bit of a character. Fresnay-sur-Sarthe is a pretty little town with quite a bit of character, but somewhat sleepy. We were looking ... what people say » for a stop off the a28 en route south and the location is ideal. The hotel was very welcoming and the food very good (and great value too). Will defin - Lovely rustic feel to the hotel and rooms. The hotel owner speaks good English and is extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant offers good value dinner and lunch options. We used the hotel as an overnight stop on our journey further south and it made an excellent start to the holiday and will certainly use the hotel again next year!
