The room was a family suite and it was large, the largest I have ever stayed in at a budget hotel in Europe. The staff was enormously friendly, even chatty, and very helpful - as well as speaking many languages, well at least French, Spanish, and English. The hotel is steps away from the train station with 24-hour reception, so you can come late at night from Paris, say, and walk to the hotel. You'd hardly walk any shorter distance going out to catch a taxi. It was one tram stop, or a short wal.
all reviews » Location (just 500m from the begining of the maim street, beside " Brasserie Georges", an amazing and historical restaurant in Lion), bed was confortable, it's a renewed hotel and everything looks nice. The Breakfast is also good. There is a parking, but I prefered to park in front of the hotel. The Hotel Parking is 200m away. Tiphane, the receptionist, was very warm and friendly and was a pleasure to deal with each day. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the internet was efficient. The location is close to transport and restaurants and within walking distance of all the sights and shopping of Lyon. Excellent chap on reception who was very patient with my dreadful French. Room was warm even though it was feeezing outside. Hotel was quiet too. Very convenient for station. Good breakfast - nice to get a decent cup of tea. I appreciated very good location of the hotel, nice staff. The recepcionists were helpful with explaining working of the public communications, adviced interesting events and gave useful map of Lyon. The decoration and the room which was, basically, a corridor. Traffic noise from outside (2nd floor) despite tiny double glazed window. Cramped reception area that is used for breakfast also. we booked two rooms, one was ok in size, ours was very small, you almost couldn't go around the bed and we had half a window. The other room was ok!. all was good. Cold not fault this hotel. Nothing. Behind Perrache complex is not a very salubrious area. Coffee, tea and milk removed after first day. - Behind the train station. The hotel said they had 'central air' but our rooms on the 3rd floor were uncomfortably warm and there are no climate controls in the rooms. The elevator was small and so old as to be honestly scary. The area behind the hotel is in 'transition' and not particularly 'family friendly'. We found 3 cockroaches in the bathroom in 2 days time (room 107). The staff took note of it, but didn't take action immediately. No airconditioning. We could sleep, without cover, thanks to the portable ventilator the hotel let us use during our stay. Do ask one at the reception desk if it's hot outside. Parking was confusing. They seemed to offer a deal when parking at a local lot but in fact just gave directions and told us just to pay at the exit. The area around the station is a bit seedy with lots of people sleeping rough. Shower-system not optimal, flooding the area in front of the WC. A bit rundown bathroom, could be modernized. away from center, close to railway, noise, area around dirty and under construction. No aircondition Cannot keep the fan ON when the lights are off, consequently had to keep the window open, which makes it very noisy to sleep. small and hot room in the summer. the internet connection is bad. Location. The ventilation was not working and, although a fan was provided instead, no other reparation was offered. It is advertised as "with air conditioning." But it was extremely hot in the rooms, and impossible to sleep.
