Located centrally with great connectivity via bus, tram, sunway all within 200m. Smack right at the beginning of the shopping district and endless choices of gastronomical cuisines to select around the hotel. Sightseeing is also a breeze as all is within walking distance. To connect to the main train station for day trips, there are 2 direct bus/tram linking to central station with great ease.
all reviews » Perfect location, in the heart of Lyon on the shopping street (Zara in front, Virgin next door). Metro station at 1 min., Walking distance to all major attractions. Very nice and kind personnel: offered a bottle of cold water upon arrival, fast check-in, always with a smile. The breakfast is included and is very good (some bacon and cheese and many french pastries). I broke my wrist while staying-outside monoprix- the reception staff.particularly isobel could not have been more helpful calling an ambulance and providing an ice pack.as we spent alot of the holiday in lyon university hospital we hope to return and stay at this hotel later.i cannot praise the hotel and staff enough,did not think much of their health system. Very friendly staff,especially Sebastien on reception, he was extremely helpful. Breakfast buffet was good and the superior room comfortable. The free wifi was excellent, more hotels should do this. The location was ideal. The staff were brilliant and went out of their way to assist us. Friendly and obliging they endeavoured to solve any and all problems quickly. The room was very quiet and the mattress comfortable. I had a good night sleep, and the heating was powerful. Location was excellent. Hotel is extremely small especially if u are travelling with big luggages! Being in a busy district and with 3 restaurants right beneath the rooms, it can be noisy if you try to sleep with the windows open. Room does not have a fridge which makes it a little inconvenient for us. The hotel is rather old, yet very clean. The elevator doesn't work all the time, but that wasn't a problem for me. No air conditioning! We were in Lyon during a heatwave and it was difficult to be comfortable in the room as it was so hot. I did not like the noise emminating from late nightters in the street, however the sound proofing of the rooms was indeed excellent at blocking the noise. No aircondition or refridgiator in the rooms. The only down side to this hotel is it does not have air conditioning if it did you could not asked for more from a city hotel. Hotel was a bit dingy. It could use a fresh coat of paint. Elevator was a bit creaky (like a lot of Europe). The hotel was not 'well marked' we drove past it twice before we realized where it was,. The lift.If just one guest does not close the door properly it does not work. Superior room was OK, but shared areas (corridors, stairways...) were shabby. Breakfast room downstairs very hot in summer. We had stayed before and enjoyed our stay. This time we were in a 5th floor room which was a bit cramped and no air con, so a bit uncomfortable to sleep. carpet in d room needs changing and shower partition updated to safe flooding the bathroom. Nothing relevant. Maybe the breakfast could be improve. This room needs a handyman: shower almost free from wall, tap washbasin needs fixing, door handle bathroom broken, no lock for bathroom. Carpet needs replacement. No airco. Small breakfast room, so we had to wait 10 minutes until we can take place at a table. A general makeover of the hotel (floors, windows) wouldn't be a mistake - but then they'd have to rise their rates. So if you're looking for a hotel room at a reasonable price - check out the Grand Hotel de la Paix. Room and bathroom/wc were extra small. You even can't close the door from wc to room when using wc - not critical fot single room, but make some confusion. Great problem to find parking near the hotel and it is very expensive. Lots of renovations happening in main foyer, bit of a hazard. Breakfast was average. Breakfast was a bit basic. Nothing. Lack of air conditioning meant we had to have the windows open which made it very noisy as the traffic continued until early morning and most drivers found it necessary to use their horns continuously! The website says there is parking nearby. It doesn't say it costs 50 euros for two nights, and that's with the hotel's discount. Very very small room. Very small and hot breakfast room, with too many people. No lounge, just a small piece in the entrance We prefer mor healthy breakfast. Needs proper air-con in summer Needs some TLC on the fittings etc - eg door handles not properly attached Needs bigger breakfast area. - superior room not up to the description - very noisy ventilation in inner courtyard. Impossible to open the window. No air conditioning means this is not an option in summer. NEEDS AIR CONDITIONING! Lift wasn't working during my visit. Be aware the single rooms are very small. Shower takes a while to get warm water and the floor gets all wet...no big deal... Breakfast was very very very simple. Decor poor, lobby was old and tired looking. No air conditioning in the room and weather very hot. Not even a fan. Also breakfast room was in windowless basement room and food was dreadful. Buffet style prepacked food And surly member of staff.
