Fantastic hotel for the price. Lovely, clean rooms with spacious en suite. Bar downstairs is always manned with friendly staff (happy hour 5-7pm). Just across the road from th train station which you don't hear at all and across from Elevantion (local popular place for eat/drink of all ages). 10 minute walk to the cable car for Mont Blanc so you can imagine the views from the room. Would gladly stay again and couldn't believe the price.
all reviews » This is a very old hotel, but very comfortable. The beds and bedding were some of the best we stayed in over 3 months and we had rooms with 2 sets of windows overlooking the mountains. It snowed both nights and the rooms were lovely and warm. The location was excellent. Opposite the main transport hub. And everything was within walking distance. We did the multipass for a day which was worth every euro. The atmosphere at Chamonix was relaxed and friendly. Location, The staff and the hotel all was just great, Close to the town and shops with various food outlets and bar's it is a must to stay here OH the view of Monte Blanc from the bedroom window just magic. -Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. I needed to check out late and they were more than happy to let me do this. -Location is great as it's not right in the center of town. A bit too close to the noisy street bar scene that can run until midnight or 1 on Fridays or Saturdays. Room could get stuffy with no way to control temperature without opening the window. Small bathroom, with no threshold between shower and the rest of the restroom, proved difficult in containing spill over. Boot room was very basic (but at least they have one!). Above a very loud bar/apres ski place, where the music can play until 4am. Very hard to get to sleep the first night, but then the staff was very accommodating and moved us the following night. room is small. After a shower water on bathroom floor flowing near toilet and washbasin must be avoided. As it wets the carpeted room floor when guests walk in & out of bathroom. No sauna. High price for basic 3* hotel. beds. Maybe a little noisy but that's what you expect for a town location. not enough soap. the limit for lead, very small, carpet and chair clogged. smell of alcohol from the pub which was part of the hotel and too noisy music till 2 or 3 am. Internet connection did not good. Room (103) smallest twin ever stayed in! No wardrobe (no space for one). Very noisy hotel due to the bery lively hotel bar playing live music/Dj sets till past midnight. Fine for partygoers but awful for others. Don't stay here if you want peace and quiet. in general a bit grey and dreary looking with dim lighting...a design issue rather than faulty light bulbs but could do with a more cheery aspect. The room allocated had ceiling that made it inconvenient to shower and stand -one must duck to avoid hitting ceiling. There are other places for better quality in comparison to price. There is a bar inside the Hotel which used to be very loud until around 2pm. Also opposite the Hotel there is a bar with lots of People. So if you get a room facing this side (Train Station) you might be disappointed because of the noise. Some rooms are really small and only a few rooms are facing Mont Blanc (I think it must be only 3 or 4 rooms). But they all cost the same amount! Next time I will choose a different Location. I've chossen better places in beautiful Chamonix. Very loud rock music played in the bar till 2 am on all of our 4 nights.Not recommended if you're needing rest as the old wooden building vibrated with the bass. Being town center of course you get the noise from the nightlife. An old construction but in good condition. A bit noisy in corridors at night No tea making facilities in room. The sheets are dirty. Dated and well worn facilities, some smell from drains etc. Nor Internet in rooms, Very noisy: room above bar Old. Poor WiFi. Extremely noisi on friday night. Musci too loud. Impossible to sleep until 2 am... This hotel was so noisy and lacking in the most basic facilities that we left, found another hotel and paid for the night without ever staying there! A band was to play that night and their tuning up was so loud and vibrated through to our room in the third floor that we thought it was better to get out earlier. Too small parking. We could not find a place and had to park our car on a public parking far away from the hotel. Room was in a poor condition and dirty. Price was very high if we compare this to the room quality. The staff were very unfriendly and almost rude at times. The rooms were too hot and if we opened the window you could hear the bar going off downstairs. Poor value in Chamonix, small room, small bathroom, noisy, not friendly. Would not recomend to a friend.
