Second stay, and this time in a room in the main building, which certainly proved to be much more comfortable vs. the annex building double room I stayed in last time around. The lack of AC in the rooms is still an issue, and very needed, but the heat was easier to bear in the main building. The breakfast was very nice and the staff accommodating as before. The surroundings are excellent and perfect for clearing your head, or preparing the next day’s business. Free parking is a plus as you need.

The food was excellent, and we enjoyed a special dinner which was beautifully presented to our table of 14 friends and family. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The facilities are very good. The hotel excels in large group catering. We were travelling from Amsterdam to Copenhagen and found the Hotel Koldingford ideal for a relaxing stop on the way. It is a large, well appointed hotel with excellent facilities. Most rooms have a view of the fiord. It is ideal for business meetings as well as relaxation. The hotel has a gourmet restaurant as well as more modest eating facilities. Hotel is well located on the side of Koldingfjord, in a very quiet place. Hotel itself is a very nice building and from the restaurant's terrace you can enjoy the view. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Restaurant was very good, and breakfast buffet is outstanding !. I can’t help to imagine what a magnificent experience this hotel would offer if only the rooms would be more fresh and luxurious. No elevators in some parts of hotel and lots of stairs, so prepare to carry your luggage. There are no porters to help with this. No bathtubs in rooms. While most staff were very friendly, some seemed cold and officious and irritated by simple requests, especially at breakfast. We enjoyed our stay and the meal in the gourmet restaurant was excellent but a little pricey. Not always easy to park close to the hotel. There was a large evening function on while there and we had to park a long way from the hotel entrance due to the number of cars parked. This was not a major issue though. Swimming pool suffered from a bit of Chlorine Overload so didn't get used. nothing. The prices !!. The single room where have been accommodated, though with a view to the Koldingfjord was a bit tight on the size and I would say overpriced. Rather flamboyant description by waiter of each small plate of food as it was presented at dinner unnecessary and irritating.. 'Lobster' wasn't - it was crayfish. Cheeseboard tasteless. Five elevators to travel from room 736 to breakfast, also a 1/4 mile walk. More humorous that a problem. Only one handicap parking place (a problem). Your still a wonderful hotel. Room view was not that good. People smoking in front of windows. Room was hot, and first floor so you could not let windows be open. In some rooms the WIFI internet might not reach You, so I had to open the door and catch internet in the corridore. The breakfast crew was unkind. The sink in our room was completely cork. They don't understand -for the second time - that the need of 2 rooms on the same floor is a must when you stay with four kids. We asked it for the second time weeks before our stay. Beer price and limited menu. The extra Fee for visa card payment. the gym is small with little equipment, no elliptical. Restaurant excessively expensive and limited choice. Quality reasonable, but no way justify price! Evening meal cost significantly more than room!. the distance to the rooms from main building. Breakfast not as superb as expected. Had read many good reviews by other guest and thougt breakfast should have been amazing, but just ordinary breakfast. No AC in room. Room just average but big. Nothing. Logically, the family rooms should be situated in the main building and not in a separate one. Especially in the winter when families (with children) would like to use the fitness center/ pool and it makes it logistically a bit harsh to get ready for the "transfer" between the building going outside. It would have been a good gesture if we would be offered a breakfast pack since we left at 4am on 13th April and already checked out the previous day in the afternoon. Lack of staff, particularly at breakfast which was like a free for all. Limited table space provided which meant that we had to sit outside the restauramt to eat breakfast.The food in the resturant was not good.
