The hotel, which was inaugurated in December 2005, is located in the quiet ambience of the spa zone of Karlovy Vary and is in close proximity to the world renowned medicinal thermo-mineral springs and picturesque historic colonnades. Carlsbad Plaza Medical Spa & Wellness hotel is housed in a charming historic building and features a 3500 m² wellness area with an indoor pool, saunas and a massage centre. All of the spacious and elegantly designed rooms feature a garden view or a view of the Emperor bath. The Carlsbad Plaza Medical Spa & Wellness hotel is known for its wide range of medical services, including more than 250 types of treatments at the Spa & Wellness Centre. A team of 14 specialized doctors work in the Carlsbad Clinic. Being the only hotel of its kind in the Czech Republic, it offers a unique concept of classical spa treatment program, provided in the private Spa Suites, including multifunctional bathtubs, a massage area and a relaxation area. The overall hotel and visit was very nice. I would stay here again. The pool and spa facilites are superior second to none. The room for the price paid is small. In addition the price for food all over the city is expensive and you have to pay to use the bathrooms everywhere except in your room or the spa facilities.

All of our guests preferring an open buffet will surely enjoy the Grand Buffet Restaurant Sorrento offering an inexhaustible number of specialities not only of the Czech but also of the western European cuisine.

The team of the Sorrento Restaurant every day prepares an attractive variety of delicacies to satisfy all tastes. The dresscode is smart casual and the opening hours are as follows: 07:00 - 10:30 for breakfast, 12:30 - 15:30 for lunch and 18:00 bis 21:00 for dinner.

At the La Bohème restaurant the outstanding French chef pampers you with his great specialties including irresistible desserts and an enticing wine list. The dress code is formal and the opening hours for lunch are 13:00 to 16:00 and for dinner 18:00 to 23:00.

The Sweet Orient restaurant offers a unique atmosphere characterized by an Asian interior and Japanese, Chinese and Thai cuisine. At the Sushi Bar the chef coming from Laos, shows his skills in preparing dishes right before the guests' eyes. The dresscode is smart casual and the restaurant is open from 14:00 to 22:00.

For having a coffee we recommend a visit at the Bon Soir Café and for an enjoyable evening with excellent music in a private atmosphere the team of the Old Times Bar welcomes our guests from 18:30 to 02:30.

Guests doing a diet will find support by our nutrition expert. A special diet corner can be found at the buffet in the Sorrento restaurant.

The Wellness Land welcomes guests who like to enjoy the swimming pool, the 6 different saunas and 4 further basins as well as the Relaxation room.

Guests who come for health treatments are in the very best and professional hands at the Medical Spa Gallery. This is a unique balneological complex, applying traditional methods using natural thermal water in modern facilities to help regenerate health.

The Carlsbad Clinic features a direct access from the hotel to optimise the comfort of our guests. The clinic offers the services of a beauty lounge, classic and Thai massages, a cryo chamber, diagnostics and surgery by medical doctors.

Children younger than 12 years of age may visit the spa centre until 17:00 only and must always be accompanied by an adult.

Parking in a garage is available at an additional cost but capacity is limited.

Important information to guests

A credit card is needed upon check-in for confirmation purposes. Pets are not allowed in the hotel's restaurants and spa areas. Please note that children under the age of 12 years may use the Wellnessland until 5pm in a company of an adult. Please note that at the hotel restaurant Sorrento and La Boheme a smart casual dress code is required.

Information about the area

Karlovy Vary is popular primarily due to its hot curing fountains discovered already in the 14th century by Charles IV, and used for drinking cures, baths and the production of aesthetic cosmetics. The town's development has always been linked to the healing effects of the local springs.

Present-day spa treatments comprise the drinking of mineral water, classic spa procedures, as well as modern physiotherapy.

The town lies about 50 km from Germany and 130 km from Prague and has an abundant cultural programme; several events of international significance are held here every year. We recommend the International Jazz Festival, Tourfilm, a festival of tourism-oriented films, and above all the International Film Festival bringing film stars from all over the world to Karlovy Vary.

Within 15 minutes' drive from the hotel you can reach 3 18-hole golf courses. The shopping area begins in front of the hotel. To reach the new city centre, it takes a 20-minute walk or a 5-minute drive.

Karlovy Vary is also famous for its traditional manufacture of Moser glass, Thun porcelain, Becherovka herbal liqueur, Mattoni mineral water and healing cosmetics.
