The location is perfect if you master all the steps (approximately 100 steps from the road that goes along the beach). ¤ 2 minutes to the old town. ¤ 5 minutes to the nearest beach (Banje beach). ¤ 5 minutes to the nearest super market. ¤ 5 minutes to the cable car. ¤ 5 minutes to the airport bus transfer. Villa Gloria has a beautiful garden and the owners takes really good care of everything. My mom and I stayed at a studio apartment with a sea view and big terrace. It's not like a hotel wer.
all reviews » Location was excellent with amazing views and beautiful gardens. Banje beach and the Old town just 5mins away. There's a convenience store at the bottom of the steps to the main road. I love to swim and my boyfriend was able to stay indoors and work from his laptop in our air conditioned terrace Villa. We were blessed with awesome hot weather and the pool was great to dip in and cool off. The terrace was sunny from 9am, perfect for sun lover like me. The cable car and airport shuttle are really. The hotel belongs to 2 cute sisters, who live there with their husbands and children. It used to belong to their family before and they were grown up there. Those 2 ladies make this job very well. The rooms are like small houses, there are saucepans, glasses (wine&water), dishes, etc, hair drier, iron, books in different languages,coffee (which you may cook yourself; there is a beautiful garden. It's only 5 mins far from the city, as well as the beach (by foot!). You never need a transporta. We liked almost everything about this apartment ,from the friendly welcome and complimentary cold beer on arrival to the friendly goodbyes at the end . The owners were helpful with good english and always a smile . We had a beautiful veranda with a view to die for.The room had a well stocked kitchenette and the bed was comfortable . The air con worked well and the shower had great water pressure. The garden and exterior of the villa was very pretty and the old town ,beach,shops and bakery wer. Fantastic location just above the beach and 5 mins walk to the old town. You'll need to be fit though as there are 100 steps up to the villa from the road, great for burning off all those extra holiday calories. Extremely helpful owner/staff if you need something just ask them and within reason they will oblige. Good basic rooms (my advice would be get one with a balcony and or a view or a mini appartment). Would thoroughly recommend. Unbelievably good value for money- incredible view from balcony (Well worth a few steps in our opinion!). The villa is situated just outside of the old town walls and within walking distance of anywhere you'd want to go to. The staff !are so friendly and helpful- we even had washing done during our stay! The pool really helps you to survive the 37 degree plus midday sun!. Villa Gloria is a family run property just five minutes walk to the Old Town, with beautiful views over the Adriatic and the town. The family are very friendly and welcoming. We had a well equipped studio with a large terrace and there is a small swimming pool with sun loungers and BBQ area. We could not fault a thing, it was wonderful. We liked the welcoming atmosphere. The owner Ophelia was very nice and helpful. The poolarea was cosy with a chilling pool, the garden felt like a house garden, not a hotel garden. Would stay there again, its so close to the beach and old town. If I had problems walking or so its not recomended because of some stairs. The house owner is so friendly and kind. All the guests are mainly couples or family members so it feels quite cozy. The location is close to old city/Banje beach and the garden of the apartment is pretty. We could see great views of the old city as well (airport bus is quite near also!). The view was fantastic. Just perfect!!. The family were charming, but the location was poor for me as there were 117 steps to go down to the town and I am 73! There was nothing I didn't like! The steps are no trouble at all unless you have an injury or are elderly. I did stub my toe walking in the bathroom, it's small but adequate. I spent more time in the ocean than the bathroom. Nothing negative about the hotel. But I must say that Dobrovnik is in general too expensive; all the restaurants, cafes, beaches, all the details are unnecessarily expensive. It's very touristic& crowded and I had the feeling that I was fooled all the time. I don't think that I would soon visit this beautiful city again and that's a pity. the climb up with the bags was a little difficult . The shower and toilet were a little small . I do like a firm bed and our mattress was a little tired but after we flipped & turned it it was much better. (Disclaimer- this point is in no way a criticism of Villa Gloria, of which I have none!) If travelling to Dubrovnik by coach, you'll be dropped by the port, this is actually a fair way from the old town (maybe 45 min walk) and so from Villa Gloria- definitely take a bus at least to the Old town then walk from there. The stairs. FYI, no shampoo or soap so take it with you. And lots of stairs! (Not too bad though) Depending on the rooms, wifi signals seem quite weak (we stayed in the pool view side). Our bed was not comfortable. 100 steps from nearest road but no problem for the vaguely fit, or those aspiring to be. Stay was not long enough. Location not optimal for old or disabled people. 80m above sea level, about 150 steps up the stairs from old city. the 100 concrete steps up to the villa and down 2 or 3 times aday you need to be fit. No parking. To many stairs. Would like a Better TV positioned better spot. I liked everything, but one word of advice: a disabled or elderly traveler would have problems reaching it. There are around 100 steps to the villa. Hauling our baggage up all the stairs. We did have good help on arrival to manage it. Appartment not serviced during the 7 day stay. Not enough information about amenities. Not to keen on the steps. The\ steps to the hotel- no vehicles could go up or down the street the Villa was off. Stlii other aspects of the Villa made up for it. The 100 or so steps which had to be climbed to reach the hotel. We stayed for 5 nights and the bed was never made nor the room cleaned nor the towels changed. quite a few steps. All good. The tours are not really tours as they tell you nothing about the place, example a 3 island boat tour which included a very poor lunch was without any commentary and lasted for 10 hours. I was told it was the best value in Dubrovnik, which it certainly wasn,t. The house wines were terrible and I could only buy by the glass, there was no choice,. Limited facilities. Steep steps up to the apartments could be a problem for any elderly travellers or those less mobile. Room was very old fashioned, dirty, never given a change of towels or sheets, no private terrace, ugly décor, tiny bathroom, minimal view, only given one key for room. The room was way too small to be called an apartment or studio. It was also poorly equipped.
