Stay in River View Hotel. Yangshuo is quite a small city but I really liked the location! Very charming place with a very nice balcony just in front of the Li River. Next to the hotel there is a small local market where you can buy souvenirs and stuff and it is also 5 min walk to animated streets with bars and restaurants. It is though a calm place to sleep! all reviews » The location was good -- close to the action but far enough away not to be bothered by any noise -- it was on the river. Reception staff, particularly Angela and Lucy, were very helpful -- arranging several tours for us. Room and hotel could use some tlc, ie we had a cracked sink, water leaking from our toilet and some broken tiles in the bathroom. However, value was pretty good for the money that we paid. The restaurant had good Western and Chinese food,. Basic but clean rooms for a very reasonable price. The main reason you want to stay here is for the location which is very good, in "downtown" Yangshuo. They have a very decent breakfast menu. The best part of our stay here was the extremely helpful staff. You can book a lot of different activities through them and we highly recommend renting a bike and/or a motorbike, and the bamboo rafting trip down the Li river. The location was a short walk from the end of the beautiful boat trip from Guilin, but it was still quiet at night. The booking was flexible and they did not charge us when we had to cancel our 2nd night.The staff were happy to take our bags up and down the stairs without us even asking. perfect location at the river front. Great location on the river and less than 5 minute walk to West St. location,close to the River, although photogragh on your site gave the impression that it was on the river bank not across the street. If you're looking for a more spa/resort type of hotel in Yangshuo, this is not the place for you. No lift. People who are noise sensitive should not choose this hotel. We didnt mind, but there is no lift which may cause problems for some. Toilet near lobby is not nice. Nothing to dislike. Many mosquitos in the room and no Wifi in the room. Went for the extra cost of the river view room, but could not see any of the river due to trees directly outside the hotel, so it was not worth the extra cost for me. We extended our stay in yangshuo down the road in a hostel for half the price. The hotel is starting to show its age but is still comfortable and clean. I ask for a room with balcony but they don´t have any, so the best option was in the first floor, no view at all. 4th floor walk up lack of heat in restaurant. Rooms could have been a bit cleaner, but not bad. It's noisy in the night, especially when drunken people (other guests from the hotel) coming home. So, it's no problem if you come home late from the night life... Nothing. Please arrange on time your pick up... sometimes they are overbooked. nothing. The rooms on the ground floor were very noisy and a bit dark. One of them was very humid. Room. One of the girls at the reception was extremely pushy and very annoying, she was even lying on schedules in order to sell more activities! And she didn't let us talk to the manager. Irritating. We don't recommend this place because of that. Not particularly well maintained. The first room we got for the children had a bad smell, which I traced to a wet wall. It took us some time to have another room. The river-facing balconies, which the hotel prides, are quite useless because they overlook a very noisy street (not shown on photos) and river view is not there due to tall trees. There was too much noise and the view was ok nothing very splendid. There not too many towels and they were too old. Well it is not a luxury hotel, so what expect more??. Surely staff. River view room was seriously misleading - it was just a tree view room (and therefore far too expenisve).
