Fantastic location: out of the centre of xian but lovely restaurants and pagoda overlooking hotel (nicer than the centre we thought). Rooms fantastic and authentic with lots of freebies, luxurious garden courtyards. We loved it and would stay again. Great location in the resort part of town. Very close to the pedestrian area and the Great Pagoda. Very good breakfast with great coffee from the espresso machine. Daily concerts in the style of the Tang Dynasty. The beautiful surroundings.
all reviews » Hotel is very artistic, close to wild goose pagoda, with a big park adjascent to it... it was a great experience to live in this hotel. The room is clean and big. Staff are very friendly. The hotel was in an excellent location, and was breath-taking when you walked to the room from reception. Xi'an is a great city to visit, I wish could have stayed longer. Very nice classical Chinese design, yet comfortable and modern. Location is excellent. I also put Excellent for "value for money". Highly recommend. If you like traditional chinese culture, this hotel would be a great choice. Good location with nice parks and restaurants within walking distance. the location with its adjacent amenities and beautiful parks. Easy access to Metro and easy to travel by Metro. The design and architecture are very nice. The room was comfortable. Good position, staff very gentle, traditional style. The room was spacious, and the staff was nice. No taxis into city centre and staff spoke limited English to explain why so we wasted most of one day. Worked out 609 bus takes you straight in from next to hotel, very easy. Beds uncomfortable, but overall we loved it. Breakfast spread should include more conitnental dishes. Being an indian i could not find anything much to eat. No boiled or scrambled egg served. Breakfast was very Chinese, but fruit, cereal and bread available. Staff was not very clear expressing in English. Check-in and check-out took time. Shower wasn't the cleanest. hard beds high price of clothing laundering. Staff should know some English. There was only one staff member of the entire crew who could speak English. For a 5star hotel, you would expect this facility. Staff not language friendly for non-chinese speakers and no concierge facilities to help travelers. Shower and bathroom very small, but adequate. Few staff could speak English. Cost of meals in restaurant. Time it took to have a blocked toilet in the room repaired. The management asked us to leave a deposit of the double of the valor of our stay. After some discussion they agreed that the deposit was not necessary any more. Some staff doesn't speaks english but that's normal in Xi'an. Nothing. However in some places the room decor and fixtures is a little tired (black water mould marks in the shower, taps very loose in the sink) and maybe needs a little refreshing / repair attention . Chinese breakfast. We arrived late in the evening and no one at the reception could speak english. The staff at the reception is not good. They do not speak good English. We made a reservation for 4 persons with breakfast included and they wanted only to give us a breakfast for 2. The only guy who is at the reception is very unfriendly and rude. The hotel should consider to fire him or at least change his position. Wifi connection very bad, no money exchange service, breakfast very poor (not intercontinental only Chinese, good but not enough). That the taxis do not work in Xi'an. I asked the staff to call a taxi for me. After 10 minutes came they and said that I can take the bus instead. I cannot recommend Xi'an to any western tourist, because of this.
