Everything! Location is perfect - in the center of the city but at he same time in an own courtyard with so much silence and calmness. The rooms are designed very well, its style is connected with the history of the building. Beds very comfortable, room and bathroom very clean. The facilities for dining, spa and etc. are just perfect, even they are in the Sofitel (part of the same courtyard). all reviews » The hotel was well located, comfortable and clean; it also had a quite interesting historical and stylish aspect to it. The location is excellent -- one can walk to most of the sites within old city walls comfortably (e.g., the walk to the Southern entrance to the city wall is around 30 minutes). The hotel's staff, though not always fluent in English, was eager to help and friendly. The taxi ride to the Qin army and other sites, organized by the hotel's concierge, was easy to book and well-p. This hotel feels like a resort. The location is great. The rooms are very nice, the beds are very comfortable and the black-out curtains are an added plus. The bathroom was a nice surprise - it was spacious, with a separate shower and large tub. The staff are friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay in this hotel again and recommend it to others. Our room was very big and had a huge comfortable bed. The bathroom was modern with nice finishes. The breakfast buffet had an overwhelming amount of choices and they were all very tasty. Upon checking in to the Grand Mercure they told me they'd upgraded me to the Sofitel just across the square and then when checking into the Sofitel they upgraded by room to a Junior Suite... I just wish I had been staying a bit longer to fully appreciate it. Hotel was very good and the entire compound with the other Accor hotels made it very comfortable .Staff of Mercure most obliging and helped us touring the Warriors and Chinese dancing theatre, which was an very nice experience. The car that we used for driving us to the Terracota Army just put us in the hands of the most unprofessional tourist guide, knowing quite a less English. If you want to go to the Terracota Army, pay only for driver and when you go and find the tickets office you will find quite a lot of young professional guides with brilliant English. The breakfast buffet was not a good value based on the lack of selection of western food choices (Although the omelet chef was great). They have several nice restaurants on the grounds but they are all too pricey. The buttons on the "master control" panel didn't always work well to turn the lights on/off. taxi service in Xi'an is terrible. need to book all taxi's through hotel which is easier, safer and the same cost anyway. It was a petty that the Hotel did not have dinner facilities only breakfast. No complaints. I would have liked more American television choices. The room was very dim even with all the lights on. Takes atleast 15 mins walk to nearest metro station. Noise from stadium. Wished the room size were bigger. stinky old carpets on the floor. Stinky bathroom. No wi-fi in the room, just plug in cable. The hotel is tucked behind the others making it slightly difficult for taxis to find. The service level in the restaurang wasnt on top. Not observent about peoples needs. The air ventilation in the restaurant is too strong, and the crystals from the roof lamps was hitting each other making a bad noise. The staff - the lack of english and enthusiasm from majority of them made the entire stay horrible. The staff of Chinese restaurant in Sofitel Convention Centre must be trained and show a lot more interest in customer service. Rudeness is not someting we paid for, considering how mediocre the food was.
