I stayed more than a week in the dorm rooms. Overall great experience in comparison to other hostels in China. Nice location, lots of chinese and foreign food options around, and Jing'an Temple is one of the "city centers". Beds were ok, with good blankets and good AC, and the lockers in the rooms are very big. Internet was very reliable and fast most of the time (no wifi in the rooms though). They have nice common rooms and an awesome roof terrace, which was great at this time of the year when.
all reviews » Excellent English speaking staff! I was in China for 3 months and heard more English at this hostel then some of the expensive hotels I was in. Everyone was extremely friendly, great for college-aged people if you want to make friends. Staff is willing to suggest places to go and give you directions to get there. There's also delicious western breakfast choices on the rooftop bar from 8am - 12 pm. Extremely safe area. The hostel sent us a detailed map of how to get there when they sent the e mail confirmation of our booking. We went from the plane from Canada onto the excellent metro to our stop. Very neat location in a houtong (old alley way) with lots of local colour. It is right in the heart of the city and the staff were great. As seniors we had rented a comfortable room with a private bath which was very satisfactory for us. Rooms were clean with fresh sheets for everyone. Staff was helpful even if they didn't always understand what we were asking. Bathrooms were verging on immaculate - there always seemed to be someone cleaning when I went in there. Definitely affordable and in a great neighborhood in Shanghai. Warm blankets, comfortable mattresses. Great hostel in super convenient location (jingan temple station close by which gets you everywhere, French concession in walking distance). Bars, restaurants and convenience stores around the corner. The hostel in itself is really charming, there are a pool and a tennis table in the common room that you can use for free. The rooms have a good size, the beds are comfortable and the bathroom is nice. I liked the fact that the entire hotel was very clean, not costly, in a great location and the employees are always friendly and ready to help upon request. Its a great budget uption if you want to stay close to the city. Good location , close to the metro. All the main facilities you need. We didn't check in till 4am and this was not a problem. Hard to find hostel the 1st time you arrive because it's in the back of an alley. The entire lobby was leaking when we checked in. Our room was fine so that wasn't an issue but for a city that experiences so much rain, it seemed odd that the entire main room was covered in buckets and towels after the latest storm. Even though the location is pretty good (two stations away from People's square) the closest metro station is quite far away. I Liked Everthing-nothing bad to report.. Private rooms a bit less budget. No internet in the rooms, no very well indicated on the road: difficult to be found. actually i have no complains abot the hostel. They could have chosen a better time to wash up the shower room, instead of doing it at 08:00 a.m.. The price of some products are a little bit expensive. Internet connection is not steady. The hostel is down a little alley and can be hard to find. I forgot a towel and they didn't have any to rent! My own error but just so you are aware!!. Bar could have been a little less expensive, but you could always bring in your own from the outside. kind of cold,. No wifi in the rooms. - wlan just in a room near reception - not that big of a deal, though. 房间无WIFI. No lift. It's too difficult to take the lunguage up and down... Air conditionning more noisy than efficient. small rooms, a bit long walk to the nearest subway station (10-15 minutes). Staffs are hard to speak English。 Cold in the room. Smell on the room, very expensive price/comfortable they charged me extra holiday price, but the holiday starts 3 day later. After this expirience a was very angry and I find the bussines hotel with 200y per room and much more comfortable.
