Lovely grand hotel 40 minutes outside Chengdu city. Enourmous very comfortable bed with plush linens. Loved that the bathroom opened up into the bedroom. There are two fantastic pools, though they try to make you wear swimming caps which is frustrating and ridiculous. The restaurants are great with several choices of cuisine. There is also a free shuttle into Chengdu and the Panda Research Base a few times each day. Otherwise a taxi to the Pandas will set you back RMB50. The Spa was fantastic, .
all reviews » The staff are faultless. They arranged our 'hold a baby panda' experience ahead of time with wonderful ease and efficiency - thank you Jessie! The room was suburb, large, clean and comfortable with a lovely view. It's a bit out of Chengdu- but if you are there for a panda cuddle and nothing else it's just perfectly located 5 minutes from the park with a free regular shuttle. We had a massage in the spa that was so relaxing and good value for money. We also ate lunch in the Western restaurant th. I stayed here to be close to the Panda Station. The location was perfect (5 mins to pandas with shuttle bus for opening time). Hotel staff all made such an effort to make us welcome and to speak English to us. Rooms fabulous. Very spacious and luxurious. Staff very helpful with all queries. Spoke to our taxi driver from the airport with directions when he got lost (make sure you have the phone number with you and the address written in Chinese as the hotel is not in the town and is in a v. The hotel is far from the city and the porter calls a taxi for you and tells you the price, taxi drivers work from there with their counter off. It was 50 RMB to Panda centre and 160 to the airport. Though it was ok for us. Staff wanted us to leave as soon as we settled bill. We thought we could enjoy a drink and relax until our taxi arrived, we were practically chased off premises. Very dissapointing as the 4 days we had spent there had been excellent and we felt we were the perfect guests. The location is far out of the way. Beware, the Hotel advertise a service to organise a taxi for you, but they are charging far too high a price. It should cost no more than 180rmb to get into city centre. Air con wasn't that cool- had to leave hotel card key in when out in order to keep room cool. You had to wear caps in indoor and outdoor pools. Toilette near the outdoor pool was shocking. A bit far from the center but they have a free shuttle bus. The local staff unfortunately entertain high taxi prices instead of favoring the use of the taximeter! Be careful. A tiny bit far away from downtown _ taxi won't start meters and expect to pay 100cny per trip downtown and 30 cny to the Panda park. The hotel provides a free shuttle which is a good alternative ;). the mosquitoes. Too far from the city. The location it's too far away from the city. Not all concierge staff have good english, front desk staff have little english. The few things we ordered at the bar were acceptable but not great. Our booked transfer from the sanctuary to the hotel did not show up. Additionly, I had booked to do the running session at 7am as offered by the hotel however the trainer did not show up. Location was far from city. Taxi drivers did not like to accept you unless you paid pre-negotiated fare (no meter) RM80. Not many restaurants, amenities within walking distance. Room service is not good. Food was cold by the time it reached our room. Limited english spoken by staff.
