We stayed for 5 nights from March 28 to April 2. They granted us all our requests: big carpeted room with king-sized bed and nice view. Thanks Ms Jenny of reservations whom I had been coordinating with via email! The hotel is very near the Chongwenmen subway station (lines 2 & 5). Please make sure you get your ic card (reloadable subway ticket). It is the the cheapest and most efficient way to get around Beijing. You can also use it in buses. The hotel is also directly connected to New Worl.
all reviews » The staff, especially Julia, was quick to respond to our needs and complaints. We were transferred to the upper floor when we complained about the noise from the renovation and to a non-smoking floor as requested. The room and the double bed are big and comfortable, the linens and bath towels are fresh. Free coffee and tea. The tv channels include hbo and English news. Breakfast is something to look forward to every morning, and the noodle bar provides our comfort food when we're hungry and col. The hotel has a somwehat similar lay out as the one in Shanghai. The location is quite good just a few steps from the subway station that is a stop for two lines. It is (for Beijing understanding) walking distance to the Tianmen square. Nice and open atmosphere and good staff at the registration. Breakfast is served in the bar area but has sufficient space and separation by using open blinds. Modern rooms with couch and wide desk. I want to say “thank you” to the front desk staff again! After checking out, we found that our tablet pc was left in the safe box. Thus, we called a front desk staff for help. She searched the room promptly and then found it. She promised us to keep it safely and then we came back to get it finally. She was very nice and honest. We would definitely stay again in this hotel next time when we come to Beijing!. breakfast very diverse, the rooms were clean, close to metro, good wifi, big rooms but the view it's not great as one will look into old buildings and a construction yard there is a supermarket close by but it's under the mall so a little difficult to find. there is also a ticket service office near by on the se street with the entry into hotel. close to railway as well, 20 min walk. The location is fantastic. 2min walking to subway and you can get around Beijing very easily with the 2 lines. They granted me my request for King Bed and Clean n quiet room. Very cosy and hip lobby. The only sad issue is the half day rate they charged us because our flight was at 1:00am of April 3. So instead of checking out at 12nn of April 2, we decided to stay until 7pm and the charge was cny300 (half day rate). No concierge. Penta-pizza is closed. Smoking floors and the on-going renovation and construction across causing disturbing noise. Choose the high floors for less noise. The entrance is a bit difficult to find though (they could use better signposting). Bath room was too small for two people. It was certainly not very clean as we found mushrooms growing in a corner of the shower screen. We mentioned this in the morning and they more or less chemically cleaned the whole room immediately. So action is taken. dont't take the trip to the Great wall- it's expensive 700 yuan and you will have only max 1 hour on the wall and spend time in different shops like Jade and Tea House. Also not sufficient explanations were given by the guide. So it will be just a waste, try to find different transportation alternative for the wall. The F&B service staff is not very well trained to b service oriented. Limited same items at breakfast which quality is just mediocre. Good enough just not to be hungry. But it's still acceptable for the rates I paid. Nothing serious. Receptionists may need to improve their English a little. Outside the hotel there were hundreds of motorbikes parked in street pathway making difficult to walk and also pathway in urgent need to be fixed. Everything was perfect. - Not very good breakfast (we were in this hotel 6 months ago and breakfast was excellent now it was average) not working coffee machine - staff not very helpful - small bathroom. Breakfast area is small and around 08 it is filled. You may not get the eggs due to ques. Slight lack of security at the lobby/front door. Non-hotel guess have been seen using lobby facilities. They occupy sofas and even walk out with newspapers and magazines. Nothing.... Too small hotel name (written on the wall), quite hard to find for the first time. Air condition/heating didn't work and the room was a little bit cold The hotel bar was very expensive. Some parts of the room I stayed need small repairs. The breakfast buffet was good, but after four days and no variety, I really got tired of it. The view from my room looked straight into another high rise. I would have preferred a room that had more of a view. Internet is really slow, I could not get VPN connected which for a businessman is tragedy, a lost day and is a show stopper for an overnight. Can not book again in this hotel before I can find on bookings.com sites a clear statement, that internet is now up to date. Also this time reception personnel was not great in English, had to repeat and repeat. Rooms could be cleaner. They were not dirty but a little more effort is needed. Staff speaks basic English only. The wi-fi was a quite slow. There aren't room service despite the hotel has 3 restaurants. Hairdryer didn't work. Lack of hotel information in the rooms, only had one staff member that spoke english. Internet speed is really out of date, could not read my e-mails. Breakfast room is between 08-09 pretty small and growded. Woke me up to clean, couldn't suggest a good restaurant. Room didn't have any drawers for clothes so was living out of my suitcase. Nothing. Bed just suitable for 2 adults . Not much of a view. Although very friendly, staff didn't quite master the English language. We had a package sent to the hotel lobby and it was rather difficult to get it from the staff due to the language barrier. Check-in took time. Cleanliness of rooms an issue. breakfast was ok. bad internet - air condition noisy. first day when we arrived the smell in the room was awful, obviously nobody was in for a long time...but next morning after ventilation has been working for some hours it was perfect. Waiting in line to get eggs cooked at breakfast. Not easiest to find and signs by Pizza Hut point in wrong direction. Not enough tables at breakfast.
