This was our first stay in your hotel - but this will also be the hotel I will come back to next trip. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, I was most impressed with the friendly and helpful staff. We were made to feel like we had truly come to the right place! The room was clean and pleasant; the location for our purposes was excellent. The breakfast was a nice bonus as well. Even other guests were friendly... All in all - the stay was very pleasant, the price was very afforda.

Breakfast is terrific. Location is terrific too. Accessible. When the downtown is shaped up it will be good. The staff at the reception was very nice and attentive. The laundry facilities were very usefull and you can buy detergent at the reception. As we were walking, it was very nice that the hotel is close to downtown and to public transportation. It had character. High ceilings. Detailed crown mouldings. Great customer service. Very speedy with requests. Asked for extra towels and a lightbulb change and it was done pronto. Bed was very comfortable. Front desk was helpful for parking. Loved the Complimentary Breakfast Menu!! and the coffee is now free !! John on the front desk was very helpful, going above and beyond. And we so appreciated the security guard walking us to our car at 5:30 in the morning. The history, its a grand old hotel and is being showcased quite nicely. The staff were very friendly and very helpful with anything we needed. The price was excellent for the value received. Staff upgraded my reservation to executive room when I asked for a room with a view. Breakfast quite good. Location excellent. Internet very good in rooms. I liked the location--close to MTS centre. Nice to have breakfast. Food was good --staff friendly. Liked the continental breakfast everyday, the serving staff were excellent , and the room was clean. Cafe breakfast was amazing. It is an older place very nice to walk in the front door staff was greeting location was in a good place I was with both of my older children we went to a concert food in restaurant was good we got complimentary breakfast what's was not on my booking that was nice but coffee tea or juice was not included. I'm a solo 20-year- old female traveller and the concierge made my stay a lot safer by giving me a room on fourth floor which is only accessible via keycard. Also, late checkout and checked baggage for no additional fee. I liked the location it was in very convenient and staff was very helpful and nice:) always smiling and remembered us:) felt special thank u we will stay again. The location is convenient to downtown and easy to get onto the road leading to the Pembina Highway and Grant Ave where I was working. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was good. The front desk staff were friendly and helpfull. Commonwealth style, a bit depassed. Central in Dowtown/Exchange districts. I liked the fact that we wre within walking distance of the MTS. Not too Expensive Staff was very helpfull. The Hotel was probably beautiful in its day, with its ornate details, but it needs some repairs. The hotel is very large and the pool is nice. Staff were very friendly and helpful especially as they could not find my booking initially. Very central and easy to find. The lady who checked me in was awesome. The location is very convenient. Room was comfortable. It is not clean. 1. the Ballroom was nice 2. the cafeteria was ok. The weather was crummy - which of course couldn't be helped by anyone! There was nothing I "didn't like" about this stay. Just the fact that the hotel is a bit run down. But otherwise fine. The staff at the breakfast restaurant in the hotel was very unfriendly, and it seemed they did not care at all. Convention was happening while we were there and it was overcrowded. They loitered around everywhere. When we arrived at our room it was already occupied. Embarrassing. But they set us up in a nice room. Parking was $15.00 a day extra, in an open downtown lot. The front door is very hard to open. very satisfied. Having to pay $2.50 for coffee at breakfast. The elevators at times as they closed too quickly at times before you had a chance to enter. ATM were down. The heat controls in the room needs some work. Front doors very heavy to open especially when you have luggage and the auto door open does not work - no attempt to help offered by any staff. Interesting clientele in the lobby and it was very difficult to find ice on any of the floors. The noise of other guests. Very old-fashioned furniture and appliances in the room. And please, wash the flowers in a vase in the lobby - they are terribly dirty!. - coffee should be included for breakfast. - awkward to drive or park at. A little shabby. No guests after a certain hour. Staff could be more helpful. And more importantly, they seem to allow "shady" people hang right out front of the door. Not sure why you wouldn't correct that!!!. First night there had a terrible sleep the bed was hard talk to the front counter staff in the morning I was told they would change my room for a better bed had to go back to the front 3 times then I finally spoke to the manager and he upgraded me to a better room if you have a problem go straight to the manager the 1 waitress we had was a real snot he didn't smile I really do not think he should be working there in my opinion she is racist. The clientele that tend to stay at the Marlborough are less-than- savoury. It's a scary place to stay by yourself as a result. The Hotel is "tired". It needs a makeover. Front desk staff need better training and some looked "scruffy". Parking is terrible. Telephone system needs upgrading - I couldn't make a collect call from my room. Dining room is OK. with limited menu. The place needs to be freshened up badly. The walls and carpets need alot of work. Some paint would go a long way to cleaning the placeup. First Nation hospital Centre, last renovation: 1970ies?. I did not feel safe to walk alone. I went with my brother and we got followed to our hotel from the car. We were pestered to buy drinks at the Regal Beagle. Downtown Winnipeg is not a nice or safe place. I loved the old in the hotel but will not recommend it to anyone nor will I stay there again. I would sooner pay for taxi fair and feel safe in my enviroment. Lots of "street people" loitering outside We arrived 5 minutes after 10 at the restaurant and were told we could not redeem our free breakfast voucher... was very frustrating. For this reason alone we will most likely not be using the hotel again. The photos of the hotel present a more luxurious view than what is there.I would rate the hotel at a 3 out of 5.It was OK for what I needed at the time. The downtown location is very scary. There is no parking. There is a parkade across the street but its not secure, as well as an open parking area on the next street. Entire hotel in need of a refurb; worn and dirty carpets and walls, mediocre breakfast with the worst scrambled eggs I have ever encountered. Pretty simplistic gym and pool was out of order. My 14 year old daughter did not feel comfortable in the hotel. And at 6:45am there was a intoxicated guy yelling outside our room this continued on and off for over an hour and when I called front desk the woman who answered was very ignorant and made me feel like I was not a valued customer as a result of this inconvenience we slept until checkout and did not use our free breakfast next time I will pay the extra $50 to stay at a better hotel. I will never go to this hotel again. Wifi is too bad. Breakfast is just so so. No parking and the place was crawling with natives that were literally begging for money every 5 feet who the hotel have currently living at the hotel permanently. I was very disappointed with the atmosphere and that the staff allowed this to happen. Would not stay again even if it was half price. Not worth the 20 $ a night saved. Price. 1. Bad Plumbing. Toilet leaked when flushed 2. Dirty...needs new caulking around joints in washroom 3. Waste water from Sink & Shower doesnt drain properly 4. Carpet is dirty & smells awfull 5. Elevator service is poor 6. Entrance doors to the hotel difficult to open, especially when carrying suitcases. Hotel staff sits idle and watch while guests struggle to open doors. 7. This hotel should be closed down to effect major renovations.
