there was concern when we got there about another tenants room which we overheard so we asked to see our room first. and when we opened the door- it was roomy and clean. for that price- it was perfect. 2 pools(small) fridge and microwave supplied. first rate for , again money paid. The main plus of this motel is price. Motel is pretty old and you should be ready that rooms are not the best you could imagine. But if you are looking just for a sleep place - this is good low-cost variant (we stayed in pretty same motels near Banff for double-price).
all reviews » Perfect location, beautiful surroundings... as long as this older motel is maintained and upgraded as needed, we would go back again & again. :). We were delayed four and a half hours due to snow storm and multi-vehicle accident. They were very accommodating with our late arrival. big parking lot--easy access beautiful location--riverside convenient to eating places quiet--no noisy transports or people. 1. Deadbolt actually worked this time, so security better. 2. Less people at motel so able to get on WiFi this time. Sexcellent service from Mary- so helpful -went out of her way to keep facilities open late for us. The motel was right by river for wonderful walking. The staff was friendly and helpful. Very friendly manager. Great location for town. No fuss stay, good base for skiing. Proximity to shopping and eating places. Also the walking trail. Close to the mountain and great staff. Many people who have reviewed seem to think that when they pick a budget motel, they're going to get 5* service and accommodation. You won't. But, Mary's Motel was perfectly adequate for a one night stopover as we travelled en route from Kamloops to Banff. There was a slight delay when checking in, as 3 checking in couples arrived at the same time, and not all the rooms were ready, but if you're visiting Golden, frankly, you're not going to be in any sort of rush, so this was not an issue for u. 1. Easy to find. Was staying in ground level room with easy access to car. 2. short distance to downtown, restaurants and grocery store 3. walking trail along river close at hand. They had small kitchens so we could make breakfast and coffee ,the location was great you can walk to all the restaurants and pubs and its a short drive to the ski mountain. Booked late. Bed was very uncomfortable and room was run down and old. Badly need to be updated. Rate was good. You get what you pay for. No internet this weekend. The manager is very friendly and responsible. Lots of suits avaiable so every traveler can be assigned far away from each to reduce the distraction to each other. Outdoor, indoor pool and hot tub. Pool was nice and warm. Walk to shops and food. Close to National Parks. The lady at the reception desk was very friendly and provided tips re. restaurants. Room was cheap. The accomodations are 'basic' but clean, and we really appreciate being able to bring the dogs. The location was fine, the new nightmanager was friendly and accomodating. The location of the motel was very good, in the center of Golden with a spectacular view of the mountains around. The staff were very helpful and doing their best to find solutions to all kind of problems that kept rising up. The motel's location was excellent. Close to the river and bike trails. Not much! I like that it was close to Yoho np. That's all!. Nice lady at the desk. Location. the price but we didn't get our money's worth at that! Perhaps the newer building would have been better but we were put into the older part even though the place had ample vacancies in all the buildings. not much, good signage for it but it (looks) a little like it is off an alley, which it isn't but that's the impression we first got driving by on the way to kicking horse resort. Needs some bedding upgrades...new pillows for sure. 1. Only problem, was on 2nd floor so had to lug things up the stairs. Nothing. Hot tub needs a clean. We found the blankets on the bed was too narrow. Air conditioning didn't work well and the facility is in need of repair. outdoor pool not working, few items missing in room, ie) coffee mugs, coffee, toaster. The handicap room toilet was too low. It was difficult for my handicapped father to get up from. The room was a bit dirty. The bedside table was sticky and there were bits of paper on the carpet and in the bathroom. Maintenance not very good. 1. Poor access to WiFi...only able to get on at 5:30 next morning. 2. Security poor. Deadbolt did not work, so relied on doorknob lock and chair under doorknob as security. Its a bit outdated but for the price and location you cant complain. The heater fan is noisy (but the noise goes continuous with rythm, which is much better than those metal pipelines making gunshots due to the coldness at night). No ice, took about two minutes to get one cup, very poor internet connection. Not clean enough for our taste. Really could have another lamp toward the window side of the room, it was quite dark in the room. We arrived early and the room wasn't ready and to please come back at 3.When we came back it still wasn't ready. This in itself was minor. However, when we first arrived we were told the price was wrong on your website and they doubled it so it went from $60.00 to $120.00 (+$25.00 for our dogs. This also was not an issue). If I could have found a room in any of the other hotels we normally stay at I'd have been there for cosiderably less money!!. Broken ice machine on hot day. No control switch on fridge, office man made it work - too well as it froze contents. Didn't deal with noise complaints very well , we didn't have a gd sleep because of people above us were loud. The only heater in our room (272) was a little baseboard heater in the bathroom. The AC / Heater in the Unit could not be used as a heater. As it turned out, we were warm enough in bed. Still I think the room should be fixed up. everything was wonderful accept for the sheets. the bottom sheet had a cigarette burn hole. thanks. Found a bunch of dead bugs on the bathroom floor upon arrival. As it was a Saturday on a long weekend, the motel was fully booked. This was probably the reason that the wireless internet didn't work. But there were other problems with our room; towels in the bathroom were dirty, the bath tab was clogged and the room wasn't that clean. The room smelled bad and looked "weathered". There wasn't enough toiletries available for multiple people. The outdoor pool had no heater. Outdoor pool was close. Sauna was in bad condition and was not heated in advance. Indoor pool was full of kids. Bathroom dirty, hair and dirt all over. Air condition didn't work properly had to wake up every couple hours to turn it back on. Sink pluged in When booked there was no room description, just the photo with two beds. I assumed that what I was getting..had to pay extra for second bed. Starting to look run down and dirty Not good value for money. Room was dirty and really bad smell because the closed fridge with oddments. No access to WiFi! Very low signal (4 rooms from the service desk!). Across whole front door was big spider web, there was no one for a long time in that room! We come very late evening so we complain at the morning. Staff was new in there, calling Mary (the owner) and she said that we could complain when we arrived, now it is our fault. I will never come back here. The pool and hot tub very dirty. the towels very small, nothing was done to quiet down the noisy late night partyers. the carpets and sofa bed were badly stained, the linoleum was torn throughout, the toilet had been cleaned but the bath tub and sink had not....we found hair and soap scum on both. the air conditioning ran all night but didn't really cool the room down. The bedding and towels should be replaced, obviously very old and worn out. things are broken, door can't close properly, can,t close windows. dirty. parking occupied by other people.
