Overlooking Pirin Mountains, Hotel Avalon is situated in a quiet residential part of Bansko, only 600 metres from the lift station and 500 metres from the Old Town. The main Pirin Street is just 50 metres away. The Avalon has been fitted out to the highest standards using local materials, the furnishings have been hand made combining local craftsmanship with modern style. All rooms feature internet access. Facilities for storing and drying your ski equipment are available on site. There is a relaxing lobby bar and restaurant offering French and Italian food and a fine selection of local wines. An Indian buffet is offered on Thursdays. Complimentary soup and afternoon tea are also available. In the basement there is a sauna, hot tub and massage services. For guests' convenience shuttle services to the ski lift are offered, against a small charge.

Everyone at the Hotel was extremely friendly and very helpful. They drew maps of the area and suggested good places to eat and drink and hire equipment. We were offered lifts to the gondola by the owner of the Hotel and they even upgraded our room during our stay. I will definately be going back again and recommend staying here to anyone. The hotel has an excellent location, right in the center of the Bansko town. It has wonderful English onwers, very helpful in giving us all details for spending a marvellous time during our vacation. The room was very clean, and with a splendid view to the mountains.Execllent choice! Thank you, Hotel Avalon!.

The restaurant. The hotel in on the booking with 3 stars and in reality is with 2 stars. You can not to eat in the evening or in the afternoon. it was not possible to book without breakfast. Felt the local staff were not as friendly. Just did the basics well and did not seem to want to engage in further conversation.

One of Bulgaria's best-kept secrets, the historic town of Bansko is situated in the south west of the country in the foothills of the beautiful Mount Pirin. The mountain's twin peaks soar to over 2900m and its breathtaking alpine beauty combined with the area's history has resulted in its adoption as a World Heritage site.
Bansko's re-emergence as Bulgaria's 'newest' international ski resort owes much to its good snow record and excellent ski runs, catering for skiers of all standards, from beginners to experts, in a season which lasts from mid December to mid April. The many cultural monuments and museums of the town add a historic ambiance which blends perfectly with the facilities of a modern ski resort.

Travelling information

Bansko is situated 170 km from the international airport of Bulgaria's capital city, Sofia. Transfer time is approximately 3 hours. Transfer from/to Sofia Airport can be organised on request. We can arrange transport to and from Bansko - with private cars and drivers or with minibuses for larger groups.
