“Thanks to Sheila, my stay at the Bellafonte Chateau de la Mer and in Bonaire was a big success!” Reviewed October 4, 2013 I couldn’t ask for anything more during my stay at the Bellafonte Chateau de la Mer. It is an attractive hotel, conveniently accessible to the airport, Kralendijk and to great snorkeling and scuba locations. There is good snorkeling and scuba right off the dock at the rear of the hotel. My room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The cooking facilities in my room saved me .
all reviews » What a lovely place: about 2,5 km from the Kralendijk centre, this luxury apartment hotel was the best possible choice for our romantic holiday. The private pier and our 3rd floor balcony with great views over the palmtops were a great way to enjoy the sea, and going snorkeling straight from your own hotel provided some nice wildlife sightings (parrotfish, needlefish, angelfish, sergeant majors, juvenile moray eel) and corals. We enjoyed the opportunity to cook with a fully equipped kitchen; br. Because we wanted to be on an upper floor, we stayed in 4th floor penthouse. View of crystal clear water and island was spectacular. Lovely hotel and landscaping with a pier right there to step right off of ladder to go snorkeling. Lots of varieties of fish and loved the big parrot fish right at the pier. Interesting island. Try to have enough time to explore the island as well as the dozens of places to dive and snorkel. Met fellow guests who were there for the 3rd time and they were from. Stayed in Sea View Senior Suite. Worth the extra spend. I visited a garden view studio and it is not very nice. The location of the hotel can be an issue if you are not renting a car. During daytime we biked to the town and elsewhere on the island, but as there are no sidewalks walking anywhere is not enjoyable, and nighttime traffic and bikes didn't mix nicely. Taxi to town costs about 10-15 dollars each way. More lamps would be nice as over head lighting is not so appealing. Bathroom nothing special Details of cleanness I would expect free airport pickup/drop-off (5 min away), daily free water/soft drinks and more amenities at 279 USD/night. Junior suite had small balcony and lack of air con in living space meant some discomfort Worth the extra for senior suite. We didn't have a control to our bedroom A/C, and the staff couldn't find one that would work. (It was on, but not cold enough.) There was a septic issue that caused an odor to seep up into our bathroom. Yuck.
