- very charming and unique hotel in an old building which give you better feeling for a city like Gent - feeling like at home - living like a baron in the old time - very friendly and helpful business owner and staff - we enjoyed very much the breakfast - nice and big room in old style - easy for walking into the city center and going to free ways by car - reasonable parking price (3 € for one day) - we enjoyed very much the stay for one week and recommended already the hotel to friends.
all reviews » The main reception was very welcoming, big sofas and a roaring fire with a welcome beer provided as soon as we checked in. We had a suite of rooms with a private dressing room and big bathroom, and it was a lovely space to relax in for the two nights we were there. Breakfast was laid back and tasty. Ambience & visual impact of understated opulence of a past era are a feast for the senses. Service is efficient friendly welcoming & informative. Magic place! Thank you for the experience. A beautiful old house with fantastic period furniture and atmosphere. A nice relaxing garden and within walking distance of Gent old town. Private garage if requested (at a cost). The hotel was beautifully decorated. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and the owner even provided Gluten free bread for me as I suffer from Coeliacs disease. Beautiful hotel with typical Ghent atmosphere, quiet street, comfortable huge bed, really nice. Staff was very friendly and professional, breakfast was excellent. Nice romantic room and good mood. If you book a parking space they provide secure parking. Staff is quite helpful and kind. the welcome, the fabulous reception area and breakfast room. There was a large damp patch in the dressing room, kind of to be expected in a building of this age so no great shakes. The hotel is very romantic, and it was a shame that the large bathroom wasn't boosted by having a large bath which could be shared. There was no lift and we were on the third floor. This was not a problem for us (and the hotel had informed us about this in advance) but for elderly/disabled travellers this could be a problem, . WiFi signal in our room was not very strong, but it seemed to work pretty well in the rest of hotel, including breakfast room and lounge. 15~20 mins from city center or 4 stops with tram. Having to leave early for my flight before the fabulous breakfast!!. Distance to city center was a solid 15-20 min. Walk, although tram was available at the end of the block. Getting charged for a glass of water without knowing it was going to be on my bill. Slightly expensive, and some items in the bathroom should be repositioned more often. nothing. Wood floors could use a few rugs to cut down on occassional sounds.
