Excellent location, just 3' walk to Stephensplatz. We stayed in a Junior Suite. It had a quite big living area, with a sofa bed that accommodated very well two big children (ages 11 and 13). Plenty of space in this area even with the sofa bed opened. The separate room was also quite big. Very nice, simple but tasty decoration. Very nice staff. We arrived in the Hotel at 7 am, coming directly from the train station (we took the night train to Vienna) and since the room was available they let u.
all reviews » Great location. Just a five minute walk from the Stephensplatz. Attentive staff. Beautiful, classic interior of hotel. First class breakfast, opening at 6.30 AM. Scrambled eggs, deli meats, yogurt, granola, fruits, breads, dessert cakes, fruit juices, coffee available daily. Easy to operate TV and security safe in the room. Computer available on ground floor for people like me who didn't have a lap top. The out of the way position, quiet yet in touch with the central area; easy to reach from airport. The staff; helpful, friendly and so courteous... Lovely breakfast and beautifully fresh decor. The white & Green is an inspiration; the central legged table is also very practical. This was a first for me in any hotel I have stayed in. On the whole staff at the desk were most helpful. location is very close to Stephansplatz which is right in the centre of city. After exit from subway just walk down the street and you reach the hotel. Nice old building with small but clean bathroom with all you need. It was a very pleasant venue and when the dining room is refurbished it will even be better. Should I return to Vienna, I would like to stay at the Wandl Hotel. wooden floors can be noisy which is bothersome with a toddler. no fridge/water cooker in room. Air-conditioning only in hotel lobby not the rooms, and in summer it can be very hot inside the hotel room. No restaurant or coffee shop. Most of the staff don't speak English but were all courteous and had pleasant friendly demeanor.. I did not like noise under my windows. It was very hot in the room-no air conditioning or even fan, so the windows had to be open but I could not sleep from the noise of local restaurants and cleaning them-moving chairs and tables in the middle of the night. The toiletries in the bathroom were very basic. The room was not clean-I found some hair on the floor. There is no good view from the windows , all the room windows are looking to inside the hotel so there was no enough fresh air. All good. The awkward shower door which did not cover fully, causing the outside area to be wet after a shower. Housekeeping did not clean the floor during our stay. The room was not equipped with air conditioner and the weather was quite hot - this was a little bit uncomfortable. I didn't like ...to leave. some of the rooms are tiny and have windows only on an interior court - ask for an upper-floor room on the street - windows are sound-proof. no air-conditioning, which may be bad in summer. Room was small, and the rooms with the small balcony could be only for extra money. There was no tooth brush in the bathroom. Moderately expensive for us, but worth it. Outside noise from a very popular nearby cafe, and from the horses' hooves from the rides that passed regularly outside. This goes with the great location. I would not pay extra for the city view room. The room I had did face a street but it also looked directly into a neighboring building with very little main street view. Save the extra money and buy yourself a sachertorte to take home. Our room had a view / windows on the inside of the hotel. The junior suite did not provide views of the St. Peter's Church like in the description. Cleaning lady did enter the room without even knocking and leave without saying a word. The staff in the breakfast room was not friendly at all. Ventilation in room facing inner yard was less tnah perfect (no air-conditioning in the hotel). WIFI connection was poor from the room meaning I had to go down to reception to check in on line. Nothing to complain about. Wooden floor coverings rather noisy from room above, particularly during the middle of the night. No bath only a shower (but a very good one). The room I had this time was interior and back to back with another room - the walls were so thin I could hear the man in the next door room snoring, using the bathroom and talking on the phone, The outside rooms were much better. The room was slow to cool in the hot weather and no air conditioning. It was very hot when we were in Vienna. The hotel is not air-conditioned and only a thick doona was provided on the beds. no mini-bar or fridge in the room. Ok in February, but in summer, might be a problem. was charged 100 more than secured by booking dot com (euros).... I phoned and they agreed it was a mistake and they will credit my account... have no way to check at the moment. 2-room are very small. We gtt a room with a window looking inside of the building. Not a big deal, just feels little strange. Noisy Hard to find a table in the breakfast room. Breakfast was quite poor. Small room, small bed, tiny bathroom, shower water barely warm (not hot). There is nothing to complain!. The size of the room is small.
