We felt that we included with the family, not simply anonymous guests passing through. We got to meet young Maria, and one of the owner's three sons even played for us on his accordion! The food is quite good, and iteresting activities seem to occur during the week, such as a tango night. Clering, this was an extremely old building, although plumbing was modern, and we much prefer to be in accomodations which have history behind them. all reviews » Who wouldn't love to visit family in a 400-year-old curiosity of a house with winding passages, multiple levels, and a variety of antiques? My daughter, two teenaged grandsons, and I felt welcome and quite at home during out stay. Johannes gave us our choice of family rooms and arranged for the wonderful Bob's Tours (ask for Peter to be your guide);Lalith and Alberto were always friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the neighborhood ambience with an easy walk to the old town center. Like most Europe. The hotel was beautiful and a bit rustic, but 100% clean, warm and cozy. When we arrived and saw the room, we realized there were only two beds for the three of us. The owner quickly moved us to a very spacious room with three separate beds. The old section of Salzburg is a 20 min walk away, but the walk is very pleasant. We didn't eat at the hotel but there were always people having dinner there every night. Breakfast was a cold buffet but the OJ and coffee were delicious. The en suite b. It is a beautiful old style Austrian hotel, family run. There is a lot of old world charm, and wonderful, interesting religious artwork (Catholic/Christian). The staff was sweet and friendly. We ate 2 dinners in the restaurant, and the food was very good. Breakfast was excellent with fresh rolls, meats, cheeses, butter, jam, juice, coffee (no decaf - I brought Starbucks instant), tea, fruit. The rooms were clean and the wifi worked. We walked to the old town and to the castle/fortress. We were . This place is eclectic in a good way. Rustic house charm with new first rate bathrooms. It is a 15 min walk to the old city in a quite neighborhood. The best thing about the place are the owners. Very hospitable and really try to make your stay as good as possible. They even did some laundry for us without asking for a fee. We were so appreciative for this gesture. Breakfast was basic but good quality especially the coffee choses. Added bonus was a free concert in the lobby of mariachis and c. The home was beautiful and unique, nice decoration and traditional style. This is a family run old Austrian hotel/house. It's very close to Salzburg while still having a country feel to it. It fits all the images of Austria. Innkeeper spoke excellent English and went out of his way to put a refrigerator in our room so that we could keep our daughter's medicine cold. Staff includes an Italian boy (the name is Alberto) very kind who gave us many suggestions also on the menu of the hotel restaurant. It was a pleasure to speak with him and to find an Italian member in the hotel staff!. Good location to the Stiegl Brewery; about 15-20 minute walk to downtown Salzburg. Good value for my large group of travelers. We ended up having three rooms and only paid for two due to our number of travelers. Haus Wartenberg is an old building that has been up-dated somewhat to accommodate tourists. It is a great, centrally located place to stay. My husband and I would gladly stay there again. Best described as unconventional tradition. Staff are super and it has real character. Food at the restaurant was excellent and the best Hugo in Austria. Nice hotel, and the hotel service is so nice. Though we were not unduly inconvenienced, we were surprised to discover that the hotel is not staffed Sunday afternoon and evening. Guests should make other plans for refreshments and dining. Nothing; we loved the hotel and would stay there again. If you want to be in the center of the old town this is not the place for you. Nothing at all!. The one issue we had was the person who checked us out wasn't quite up to date on using the credit card machine. Our room constantly smelled like cigarette smoke. We weren't located particularly near the hotel bar, but still the smell was overwhelming. floor boards were very squeaky but what do you really expect in a 400 year old building. A fridge would have been handy if our stay was longer. there is no elevator. Austrian plumbing is a little different. very old room, some things are broken and there is mold in the bathroom. The light in the corridor is not always off, since the room door has a glass window with a curtain, the light can disturb during the night. That they had kitchen ceiling collapse and so lost use of dinner there. Some of the staff did not speak any English, but then you can say that we didn't speak any German. little expensive considering the accommodations. Breakfast was a little lacking. The key is too old,hard to use. Too authentic - breakfast room very small and poor / limited provision of food. Although the building was full of charm and old style our room was very tired, although the bedding was clean the bathroom was in need of a good clean. The standard of accommodation did not merit the high charge to stay at this hotel.
