Dating back to 1342, the carefully renovated Altstadthotel Kasererbräu has been family-run for several generations and is located in the heart of Salzburg, directly in the city's historical pedestrian zone, at the foot of the Hohensalzburg Fortress. The rooms, some of which feature antique furniture, while others are newly renovated with a modern design, are individually furnished and offer guests the highest level of comfort possible. Some categories offer additional facilities such as a minibar or a free-standing bathtub. Guests enjoy free access to the hotel's sauna and can book spa treatments on site. Every morning, Altstadthotel Kasererbräu provides guests with a buffet breakfast and an Italian restaurant is located in the same building. This hotel stands in an excellent location. We highly recommentd this hotel for those wishing to stay in a central location in Salzburg. The staff, facilities and cleanliness were excellent and we shall certainly recommend this hotel to friends. A big thank you especially to the Reception staff who were helpful and courteous at all times. Hotel is warm, inviting and comfortable. Breakfast room is tops! Great location and good parking (a big plus in the altstat Salzburg).

I would not like to stay in the same family room again. no air conditioning. the cleaning lady forget about a big spider web and i found a bug !. Sauna etc was quite "dated". Facility to have hot water available 24 hours would have been good. ie kettle for drinks in the bedroom.Parking slots not controlled. When we went to park with a reservation, there was no room. We did think that there was a lounge but the photos were out if date. I don't know if the Italian restaurant is part of the hotel but they did make 2 huge errors during separate dining experiences but made no effort to atone. We thought that was very bad. We forgave them the first time and tried again another night but sadly the same error was committed and suddenly the language was a problem!!!. With the windows open it was noisy at night. My room had no air conditioning. The absence of any water for drinking in the room. No good lobby bar. Quite a small single room with a shower, no bath. Didn't feel like a 4 star hotel. Small portable TV, No minibar or fridge to store cold drinks. There was a cinema in the hotel but all the films were in German. Some street noise at night but was to be expected. One outside window had broken off its hinges and was left in the room. Felt it should have been fixed or removed!. needs renovation. The bed could be better. A more comfortable bar / lounge area would be an advantage. Rooms and corridos too hot must put in ac. I booked a room with one double bed and got one with 2 single ones. Although I was given 10% discount in compensation it nearly ruined our stay. It was my first stay at this hotel. Single room is very small and noisy (room facing the street with restaurant terrace), bathroom is extremely small. I cannot recommend the single room; double rooms might be better though.Furniture in the room is quite old, and there was all the night noise from heating....... Our room was not serviced when we were there and on contacting reception was asked if it was dirty as there was no one available to do it. New towels were brought and an apology given - but not what is expected from a 4 star hotel.Reception Service.

Important information to guests

Please note that the hotel is located in the pedestrian zone of the city centre. Access to the hotel by car is possible. If using a GPS navigation system, please use "Kajetanerplatz 1" as final destination. At the entrance to the Kaigasse (the beginning of the pedestrian zone), there is a barrier. Please press the corresponding button for the hotel on the column on the left side. You will receive a code via the intercom, which you have to enter into the barrier to be allowed to enter.
