Newly opened in 2018, this Boutique Hotel is located in the former Hoteldorf Grüner Baum and consists of 5 traditional buildings spread across a vast garden space and enjoys a a unique location amidst the Hohe Tauern National Park only 3 km from the center of Bad Gastein. The dog friendly accommodation provides free Wi-Fi and free parking. All public areas and the Deluxe Rooms in the main building were renovated recently in a mix of modern and traditional design elements. The main building also provides a lift. The spa area is in a separate building reachable via an outdoor bridge. Guests find a stone pine sauna, a steam bath, plunge pool, fitness area and a relaxation room. During summer a heated outdoor pool with lawn chairs and a pool bar is open. Situated in the historic Hofapotheke building the restaurant and bar, have a conservatory, lounge with fireplace, open show kitchen and in summer the large garden invites guests to unwind. A rich buffet breakfast with warm and cold dishes is served every morning in the conservatory. The Hohe Tauern National Park offers several biking and hiking trails, starting right from Hotel Grüner Baum. Horse-sleigh rides into the National Park and Bad Gastein can be arranged all year round. The nearest golf course is 2 km away. Right at the hotel the public ski bus stops to take guests to the pristine Graukogel ski area. The centre of Bad Gastein can be reached via car-free Kaiser-Wilhelm-Promenade within a 30 minute walk. Salzburg and the W.A. Mozart Airport can be reached by car or train in 1 hour. Bad Gastein train station can be reached by public bus within 10 minutes.

Our stay was excellent - the staff and their attention to every detail made it so special. Welcome on arrival. Attitude of management to guests Breakfast walk comfort of room Location . Room, hotel and enviroument look beautiful. The only criticism would be that there are no tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. Service in restaurant for dinner was slow even when not busy. The waiters however were very attentive even so.

The hotel has been open for business for nearly 100 years, and is now being managed by the fourth generation of the Blumschein family. And rather than being just one grand building, the Hoteldorf comprises 5 quintessentially Austrian houses with individually designed rooms, which are located right next door to a national park. But if the scenery and setting alone don't tempt you, the ultra-luxurious spa definitely will. Specialising in anti-aging and rejuvenating treatments, it now offers treatments from all over the world, such as Shiseido and Alpienne. The surrounding area is known for great skiing in winter, hiking into the national park, and mountain biking and golf in summer.

Travelling information

Arrival from the north on the A10 motorway towards Villach:
- Exit for Bischofshofen. Follow the B167 to Lend.
- Turn left towards Gasteinertal.
- When you arrive in Bad Gastein stay on the main road - do not go into the centre of Bad Gastein.
- Go up the hill, passing a Shell petrol station on your left, followed by the train station on your right.
- After passing the SPAR supermarket turn left. After 300 metres go left again and follow the street for approximately 3 km to Grüner Baum.

Arrival from the south on the A10 motorway towards Salzburg:
- Exit for Mallnitz-Oberfellach. Follow the road to Mallnitz.
- Once there put your car on the car train to Böckstein.
- Once in Böckstein follow the road to Bad Gastein.
- After passing a railway bridge - turn right immediately - and follow the road for approximately 3 km, into Grüner Baum.

Arrival by train:
The hotel bus can collect you from Bad Gastein railway station for free between 08:00 and 18:00.

Arrival by plane:
Salzburg (W.A. Mozart) Airport is 95 km from the hotel. An airport collection will cost EUR 110 for 2 people one way; EUR 130 for 3 – 8 people one way.
