The staff are always friendly and welcoming and very helpful. Mercure Townsville has a lovely feel to it with its well maintained gardens and pool area. We don't feel like we have to stay indoors, there are many places to enjoy in the grounds which makes our stay more enjoyable. The deluxe king room was spacious with a balcony. The room had small kitchenette. It was only a 5 minute walk to the shopping centre which had buses to the city. There were a few cafes / fast food outlets in the same block.

Reception when I arrived was very friendly. Location handy to food outlets, corner store, shopping centre and buses to other locations (e.g. hospital). Room service was very good and reasonably priced. Hot shower, comfortable bed, comfortable room that would have been suitable to business use had I stayed long enough. Quiet location. There were a couple of things that I noticed missing in our room. There was no where to hang my dresses. The hanging space only catered for menswear and there was no full length mirror either. The lighting combination was confusing. We couldn't turn on the bathroom lights without turning on the main light in the bed/lounge area. Free Wi-fi was only available for 30 mins / day and could only be accessed if you sat next to the router in the foyer. The main access to the pool was through the bar / restaurant. The spa was out of service. nothing really. Some repairs obviously not prompt (no full length mirror - appears wardrobe doors had been broken and not replaced). Steak at the restaurant was pretty "average". I was only there overnight!. The pool was right along side the restaurant. People not from rooms running through next to lakes throughout night making extreme amount of noise. Bed very hard. Ants walking over benches and floor. The noisy plumbing!. Internet access should be available in rooms nowadays foc especially bearing in mind the price paid. Need a car to get around. Other than this, no problems. Toilet roll holder in toilet was broken. The lighting arrangements in the room and the lack of light in the bathroom. Nothing. The design of the bathroom was a little strange. The door opened into the toilet. The beds were too hard. Would have been the same the sleep on the floor. Waiting over half an hour for soft poached eggs for breakfast and needing to provide a reminder. Loose bricks in the pathways that moved when stepped on - could be dangerous, especially at night. Meals were only average. Difficult to get to rooms, having to go up and down stairs to get to your room. Difficult for older people and people with disabilities. Limited staff to help to get to room. Nothing. bathroom to small. nothing. breakfast. Loud music at wedding until very late. The room was smaller than it looked when booking and I think a bit pricey compared to other places I've stayed. The food could of been hotter. The bed pricked me with feathers under the bottom sheet! The curtain was in need of a wash. There was no hot water. The shower water leaked badly under the glass flooding the floor so we had to slosh through water to get to the toilet. The door opened right up against the toilet. The toilet was not clean. I did not like seeing the cleaning lady drying the cups with my used towel. A bit further out from the city then I expected. Cold spa!!! I specifically asked for a spa pool - for relaxation! Do you have a cold spa - for God sake! Another issue is your advertising about the size of the bed, which is different than on your web site(bigger on web). rooms are a little noisy when you are close to the road, and the car park is not safe, be careful (a window of our rental car has been broken during the night, probably by kids, as the manager told us when we let her know about it). Only in Australia could a hotel like this still get away with charging exorbitantly for an internet connection. If you need the internet, go elsewhere. no power point for laptop - had to get extension cord from hotel to connect to closest port behind one of the beds. Floor was filthy and clearly not vacuumed for a long time. Old computer modem + ethernet cables left on floor and hidden under bed....found when hunting for power point! Beds on castor wheels ... not good on tile floors. Every time I rolled over, the bed moved. Bathroom door had to be closed to sit on the toilet. facilities medioca.
