We have stayed here a few times, and have just had another 2 nights. it is sad to constantly read the poor reviews the hotel gets. Sure there are things that need some fixing up, and yeh it's not the Hilton, but it sure is a great friendly and convenient place to stay and relax. The staff here are excellent and do go out of there way to really help. The bar, food and the size of the double rooms more than make up for any other shortfalls. If you book and stay there, just enjoy it for what it is.
all reviews » Was at RPA for surgery. Found the staff very friendly & very helpful. Staff were very understanding of our situation with the operation & helped out with everything we asked. Our house cleaner went above & beyond as she knew Tim had surgery- every morning as we went for his rehab she dropped everything & did our room when we were out. Made sure Management knew how good she was & left her a box of chocolates. Re-booked for next hospital stay as this was our 3rd stay & we . I thought the hotel was excellent value for the price. We had a large, clean, quiet room, with a comfy bed, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to the city, with frequent buses nearby. It's also a short bus ride to Broadway shopping centre. There is a good supermarket, and plenty of cafes/restaurants a short walk away. We wanted a hotel close to our daughter, and this one fit the bill. Would definitely stay there again. Staff were very helpful and friendly upon arrival (late in evening). I asked and they gave us a room that had more recent upgrades to the bathroom. Bed was very comfortable and clean. . Rydges was the only hotel close within a short walking distance to those we were visiting so worked out well. The great mini-bar and big selection of treats. I was tired when I arrived and didn't feel like going out for dinner. So I just used the different treats there as "dinner" and breakfast. Incredibly comfortable bed and good, functioning WiFi (always appreciated when you're a long way from home). The location of the hotel is excellent. Easy to catch a bus or a taxi just outside. The room was large and had plenty of natural light. The TV was large and the bathroom was stocked with nice toiletries. The bed was very comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities a big plus. Rydges was very close to RPA Hospital were my wife had to be admitted for medical test for her chronic/terminal illness. We stayed for 2 weeks and when we went to the laundry it was always locked and we had to get reception to open it for us each time but it wasn't a big problem'. I do not like the pokey basement carpark, nothing can be done about it, just hard to navigate around. toilet was missing flush button & customers staying next door who partied till 6am very loudly. Corridors a little worn. No gym. Cost was just a bit high for a short stay. Restaurant is not good which is a great pity. Needs bringing up to a standard expected in that area of town. Not to make it expensive but good quality meals with fresh ingredients, better decor , competent staff ( though they were friendly!) . room not well cleaned (broken glass in refrigerator, despite telling front office staff); not eco-friendly (insist on changing towels), noise from adjoining room occasionally a problem. Hotel is quite dated and needs a lot of fix ups. Car park is tight. didn't know restaurant would be closed a bit worried we may not be able to find an accessible parking spot- but we did. Some Bathroom fittings needed replacing.Kitchen hotplates looked grotty. only average facilities however fair value. bathroom wasn't very clean. not warm enough bedding. The airconditioner did not work.
