The location, so close to St Kilda beach & shops. Only 10 or so mins by tram to Melbourne city centre. Being a backpackers', it was cheap, but comfy & very friendly. We only needed a bed & place to leave our luggage, so it suited us well. Rooftop BBQ, smokers' area. Cheap, but good breakfast around the corner. Proximity to St Kilda beach, Luna Park and restaurants. Staff were friendly and welcoming, great for the budget traveller specially with location. Public transport just down the road. Plenty of information offered for travellers.
all reviews » Surprised by the condition of the room, very nice. Felt like a hotel room, with everything to cover our basic needs (en-suite, decent double bed, fridge, television). Staff were very helpful with local info and travel pancakes were great. location and style, old and charcature. Real personality. Cost. Location. Pancake breakfast was awesome. Staff were friendly and helpful. Private room was reasonably priced. it was close to the city. it was cheap, save money. it was easy to find and could book in no time. Nice receptionists, especially Anthony. Cheap price, good location near beach in St Kilda, trams just a minute from entrance, lots of places to eat on nearby street. Staff were friendly and helpful. Communal shower gushed torrents of hot water. There are no lifts, only stairs, but backpackers probably don't mind that. No hot water in the mornings, banging doors, OMG the stairs LOL. The Stairs but cheapness made up for that. bed not great. I could only stay 1 week. 2 floor walk up with bags. Shower temperature fluctuated from cold to scalding Our ensuite had a vent in the roof that rattled loudly in the wind at night. people were very noisy outside in the hall at night. people running up and down the hall at night. people not behaving civil at night in the hall. glass in the room had finger prints. cups and saucer had dirt marks on them. Pretty old facilities. no heating so it was pretty cold all the time!. No duvet/quilts on beds in dorms, light didn't work in shared bathroom with shower, shower went hot to cold frequently. Room was filthy and had used contraception underneath the bed absolutely disgusting, the shower was terrible little water pressure and it was either boiling hot or freezing cold no in the middle,. Bed bugs everywhere. Very poor double room,no where to hang clothes old stained bed linen,window with so many gaps it let in every bit of noise from street all night,no towels.tv near to very high ceiling. At $88 per night it was worth about $30. They claimed to have no knowledge of my booking and had no bed for me, even though I had called two hours before to confirm as I was going to be later than I said I would be on the booking.
