We came as a group and booked both the "mansion" and the "coach house". Both were amazing - old houses on whose land I guess the other motel-like units were built. Overlooking the river and with lawns all round, a barbeque down by the river. Sure the houses were old, but still in good repair. With 5 bedrooms and three lounge rooms with working fireplaces, the mansion was just one out of the box. Had a great time!.

And the food especially at the restaurant - we had dinner - was some of the most delicious my partner and I ever tasted. And the view of the Derwent river was also brilliant. The ducks came right up to our back door and we could feed them. It was so peaceful and adorable. The location was great, close to the city (if you have a car)but quick exit on highway to head north. Simple and basic but great, everything we needed, comfortable, warm (very important in Hobart in winter/spring) clean and safe. Catered for the family (most accommodation places say family & only cater for three people!!). Great for a young family. Very spacious villas. Beds very comfortable. Excellent price. Quiet. Very clean. Staff very helpful. Restaurant food very nice. It was fantastic having a good quality washing machine in the laundry- very very useful. We loved our stay and would definitely go back if we went to Hobart again. I liked that I could get 'budget' accommodation as it was just an overnight stay.I loved the restaurant and the food was delicious and plentiful.Couldn't eat it all in fact!And the male waiter was so attentive and courteous...very nice!. This was our 28th wedding anniversary and we hadn't revisited since our reception there. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the accommodation clean and warm, the meals well presented and timely, a memorable experience. This is our 4th stay and we will continue to choose the Riverfront as it ticks all the boxes for us - clean, good restaurant and staff and importantly for us close to our children and grand children. We liked the fact that the staff went out of their way to make sure we had a suitable room , as I am disabled. It was lovely to receive fresh milk every day. We would certainly stay again. We stayed in the house and it was spacious, clean and very nice. close to the water and provided privacy. The restaurant was very good for their menus and very nice food. Super value for the price! Very cosy and comfortable with its beautifully-designed interior. Would definitely come back here if I happen to travel to Wineglass Bay. Restaurant and reception staff were excellent - caring and helpful. Congrats on the great veg and herb garden! Should be more of it! Breakfast was great value. We have stayed at River View motel for many years now and whenever we go to Hobart our preference is always at this motel. everything we needed was there. with the exception of air con. the weather was HOT. Fan no good 'cos it was so noisy. excellent having room service for restaurant meals (beautiful) breakfast also excellent overall great service. The wine selection,location along the river close to the hwy and the lamb roast and breakfast was excellent!. The situation for us was ideal. We really enjoyed eating at the restaurant as the food was most enjoyable. Everything about the place, have stayed on numeras occasions and have recomended the place to friends. The service was efficient and friendly. Food was nice. Room was clean and tidy with nice views. It was cosy and clean and great proximity to the movies and shopping, and of course the water. The only two things we could fault was that they hadn't collected a room service tray of left over food. And the shower head wouldn't stay up. Okay for me as I'm short, but not so good for someone taller like my husband.But these were only small problems which didn't really affect our overall stay. some lights didn't work but that's easily fixed. It is old fashioned and could do with a bit of a refurb, but considering the price of the villa it was very reasonable. A bigger heater for the colder days, and I'd love a TV in the bedroom if I was really going to be spoilt!! I would have loved a dryer inside the villa. Had some difficulty finding my way to the Motel as I was coming from Hobart CBD and was initially looking for off ramp on the right of the road.Drove all the way back to the roundabout and found the off ramp on my way back.Sad that the beautiful vegies can't be used in the restaurant...damn red tape!!. I must say that there were no didn't likes. I would have really appreciated a toaster in the room as I am unable to go out for breakfast. Separated third room outside and next to the porch should be informed beforehand. No one ended up sleeping in that isolated room due to its remoteness from the rest of the house. Disappointed with being in Unit 2. The view wasn't what we'd anticipated. I think for the price, the rooms could be a bit more modern. They are a tad 'old' and the standard TV was a bit small. A larger flat screen TV and more modern furniture would be a big improvement. The noise of the traffic. Nothing. only the no air con. room cleaning ok but needed sanitary bags , cups replaced , and breakfast order forms. Service soon provided but should have been replenished?. The originally booked room was not available but we had a spacious apt provided to us and it was very clean except for the sofa arms needed cleaning and the carpet had seen its best days. Nothing to complain about. There was only one thing and it's from my husband, he found the bed rather hard and pillows uncomfortable i slept great. I was disappointed that I didn't get the room that I booked (through Agoda.com website). Had booked a 'garden view' unit which fronted onto the river, but instead was given one of the upstairs units, which was fine, but not what I'd requested. We couldnt get in for dinner but that just tells me it was obviously worth going in to eat at. it was a bit noisy from the nearby road. While staying there other occupants were parking their utes across multiple carparks and I found it inappropriate. Reception staff seemed distracted with other duties; phone, chatting to others, etc while we were being booked in. I wanted additional information but felt she was too busy to ask. bathroom really needed upgrade,kitchen cooking smells in room. The kitchen cupboards are fairly old. Nothing. Needs new tvs. Needed some pictures on the walls of villa 58. Nothing. No aircon. short stay, did not find anything i did not like. Only 1 mirror in the bathroom. Perhaps a full length mirror in both bedrooms would be good for the ladies. Staff having a very loud conversation at 6 am for ten min near room while they had their break then hosed foot path next to room at 7am in the morning. Needed sleep got in late after ODI cricket..Then had to drive back to devonport. No view. Never saw one staff member except when booking in and leaving at reception desk or had any enquiries as to whether we needed anything?not a biggie as I suppose all we needed to do was walk to reception but just seemed a bit odd?. Bit of a hike to find food and supplies. Long travel to the city. no hooks in bathroom to hang towels on.
