The location was excellent, the room (1 b/room appartment) was very clean and had every thing you would need away from home. Staff were friendly & helpful especially when there was a mix up with my booking, my room had been prepared. Good value for your money. Even the guests staying at Cascade were friendly. I will stay there again next time I visit Cairns. The Glenda and Chenora were wonderful, welcoming and helpful.The rooms were clean and spacious, and the location was far enough from the center of town to be quiet... but close enough to be walking distance. The outside decor was nice, and the pool/BBQ area looked nice and clean. In-room laundry was a definite bonus.

The standard of accommodation was great for the star rating. We especially loved the pool area and the amazing water pressure in the shower. Staff were amazing and the location of Cascade Gardens was so handy to everything. We would be very happy to stay again. Glenda and her daughter, Shanoah, were both lovely and helpful. They booked a tour for us and were very knowledgable about what to do in the area. When I mentioned that something needed fixing, Shanoah arranged for it to be done the same day, most impressive!. The apartment was roomy, clean, and comfortable, and within comfortable walking distance to Cairns city centre. A special thank-you to the front-desk staff, who were amazingly helpful. The location is excellant. Walking distance to the esplande and to the resturants area, supermarket and The Night Market. Also very easy approach to the main roads if you want to go out of the city or to the airport. The studio rooms are fully equipped, even with washing machine and drier. Location is very convenient, a few blocks from the city centre and the esplanade. They provide free private parking and WiFi. Good position for the esplanade, shops, restaurants and day trips. Staff can book trips for you. Our one bedroom apartment had everything we needed, including and outside sitting area. A great place to stay, so close to the heart of Cairns. All is good. The stairs, if you had to carry heavy suitcases. Office/reception hours were extremely limited. Kitchen area could benefit from a stove. Lighting was somewhat dim... even in bathrooms. On 2 out of my 5 days the pool could not be used: one day due to waterblasting (pool closed), the next day "usable" but without circulation pump and with dirt from the blasting floating in the water. My room was on the second floor, there was no lift. The pool was quite small. The compulsory setting of the air conditioning system was a little limiting although I appreciate the logic behind it. These comments certainly did not detract from our enjoyment of the facilities, however. Nothing to complain about. Our unit needed a hook on the back of the bathroom door. That we had to leave so soon. They could provide a bit more utensils for the kitchen. The ground level rooms are a bit dark... I asked for ground level though due to my heavy suitcases and no elevator. Reception staff only part-time at weekends. Free wi/fi but had problems getting on to it and seemed slow. Leaving. Cold spa. Having to leave. no major dislikes. I don't like the increasing trend of these so called "Apartments" in which you have to do everything by yourself from cleaning, taking out garbage (and you really get a fine if you don't), but they cost the same as a serviced hotel. Only complaint would have to be that there were no elevators. Given the weather was a bit cooler during our stay, it would have been nice to have fly sscreens so we could keep windows open. All the stairs, next time I stay would as for an appartment on the ground floor as I have rheumatoid arthritis The staff where not aware of this. Street noise during the night. Chlorine pool - prefer salt. Would be nice if the T.V was on the other wall. But just nit picking. nothing important. no lift. problem if on upper floors. lack of lift to upper floors. The mattress was a bit hard, but that's only my opinion because I have a bit of a back problem. My husband didn't mind it. The lounge was very comfortable. The passages are somewhat run down. Carpets look old and dirty. older style rooms. somrtimes the younger generation coming home at early hours with the noise. but not really a dislike we all went through that, he he. A little old. Rooms are starting to look a bit dated/shabby. No daily cleaning. Very poor lighting in the unit. Unfortunately our microwave did not work,which we reported but nothing was done about it. Lighting in the lounge area could be improved as it is not ideal for trying to read.These are only minor items that can easily be rectified.
